What's your TEP?

Postby tstafford » Thu Dec 14, 2023 5:58 am

More and more discussions seem to include TEP. Curious about what types of TEP people are playing. My TEP league is 1.5 but I'm not sure if that's representative or not.

Appreciate you participating.

I don't participate in any TEP-leagues. While I understand the concept, wouldn't it push more value towards TE's in general making it a 2TE requirement instead? TEP is mostly pushing value at the top TE's?

I find with 1.75+ it allows me to fit some TEs into the flex in a pinch or during byes

1.5 definitely skews towards just the top guys

Pretty much. Only a handful of guys get more than 5 or so targets a game. So even in 2pt premium, it's only an extra 2-4 points per game. The real value add to all TE is start 2. That makes the "fringe TE1" an actual usable piece as once you get to the 24th TE, its very grim

1.5, but I would prefer 1.75 or even 2.

Two leagues are 2 PPR, one is 1.5PPR + .15 pts/yd-rec). A 1 yard catch is worth 1.65 pts.

This means top TEs are absolute gold… and the TE10-12 are in the same range as WR15-20. Definitely forces a different philosophy than a non-TEPrem league.

I don't do TE premium leagues. IMO it doesn't really move the needle, so why play games. If you want an advantage at TE, you have to pay a premium in draft or trade capital. Format doesn't really change that much for me.
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Thanks folks. I'm playing around with the math to see the impact. I'll report back in a day or two. My hypothesis is that folks underestimate the impact of the TEP. This matters for drafting but more importantly for player valuation and flex considerations.

FantasyFreak cracked the code on how to best set up a TE Premium format. It’s complicated though and not for the stagnant dynasty player

i try to avoid any form of ppr as much as i can. not that easy, but tiered shite is where i draw the line. i don't care about artificially give a "better" (but in reality only "different") balance to positions, it is what it is, it's the same for everyone.

i do play in a start 2 TEs though: most players undervalued TEs in the startup because there was no premium, but they're realizing their mistakes now and TEs are hard to buy, and having two good ones gives you a real edge.

Do you play in leagues that have different tiers for passing vs rushing & receiving TDs?
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Mostly tests my abacus skills. Multiplying by 1.75 takes some real bead sliding talent.
