Not really. This is possible points and MFL tracks this.

In our league, if you tank you lose your first round pick.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Here is how we handle tanking in our league....

Tanking:
•A team is not allowed to throw any games.
•You are required to start the best available line-up.
•Players on IR/Out or on Bye week are not permitted in your starting line-up
•If the league has determined that you are tanking games, your team will lose a draft pick in next year's draft. The first infraction will cost you a 3rd round pick, if it happens twice, you will lose your 2nd round pick, if it happens more than two times in one season, you will lose your 1st round pick. (You will not lose all picks, we just increase the severity each time it occurs).
Team 1: 10th Year: 10 Team, PPR
2014: 3rd, 2015: 2nd, 2016: League Champion, 2017: 7th, 2018: 3rd, 2019: 5th, 2020: League Champion, 2021: 4th, 2022: 5th

QB: Aaron Rodgers Matthew Stafford, Brock Purdy
RB: Tony Pollard, Cam Akers, Ezekiel Elliott, Javonte Williams, Kyren Williams, Chuba Hubbard
WR: CeeDee Lamb, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Allen Lazard , Michael Gallup, Donavan Peoples-Jones, Tyler Boyd, Romeo Doubs, Corey Davis, Marvin Jones, VDS
TE: Dalton Shultz, Mike Gesicki

2019 picks: 1.1, 2.3, 3.5
2024 picks:
Round 1: (1)
Round 2: (1)
Round 3: (1)

Your current setup, including a reward, encourages the behavior, so of course it will happen.
This. Starter points + bench points for non playoff teams. I don't know if this will keep them from starting a good lineup every week though.
This sounds like a terrible idea. What if somebody is rostering 4-5 QBs - they're hosed.

Everybody should know what a reasonable lineup is. Starting DGB over Cobb is fine (outside a good 3-game stretch, Cobb has been suck). Benching Julio, even though he only ended up with 30 yards, should get an inquiry from the commish.

Roster management. Better than a subjective measure of 'who should they have started'. Bye weeks is obvious, and so is benching Julio, but it isn't always black and white.

This is the penalty in my league as well. It seems like the most natural consequence of hurting other teams to try and get a higher draft pick. It takes away the reason to tank.

We've used a financial penalty. The last place team (or maybe even bottom couple) pay in each week to the pot. The pay in amount should be enough to force all owners to want to win every week. This has been very effective for us. We use the money to pay our weekly winner.

Costly to rebuild under this model, no? Tanking is a no no, but rebuilding shouldn't be. That's big dynasty strategy. Sure you could recoup the funds later, but not always.

I have argued to no avail against possible point to little avail here in the past example last week if you had
russell wilson and julio last week and started them as you always should but had matt barkley & marquess wilson on the bench you could lose spots in the draft due to big days by guys that will never help you likely .
I think it is a combination of recruiting owners with integrity and a vigilant commish that can and will take the steps necessary be it pick penalty or expulsion to make sure owners are trying to set the best lineup possible .
Allowing owners to play a hunch is fine but penalizing them because some random player has a career day is silly. I attempt to keep an eye out for this and will shoot an owner a text or call if he is doing something questionable and hint that playing a hunch = cool / good luck
tanking = bus ticket to another league.
Perhaps that is heavy handed but like most discipline issues if done properly it only needs done 1 time.

All draft should be based on Potential Points (reverse order). I don't know how this isn't a thing in all league.

In some of my leagues, there are teams purposely trading away all of their QBs, for example. I might include a new rule next year that says something along the lines of "you must have a starting QB on your roster at all times", and then reword it for injuries, bye weeks, etc.

But Potential Points should be a no-brainer. I don't know why leagues incentify losing.
