Gordon trade - Thoughts?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Gordon trade - Thoughts?

Postby Bad News Barrett » Wed Nov 12, 2014 4:17 pm

I give Floyd, 2015 1st (Mid), 2016 1st

I receive Josh Gordon

I only have two serviceable receivers that I feel confident playing. While I know everyone loves Floyd, I'm pushing to win this year. I clinched a first round bye, so I just need him to perform week 15 and 16

Then hopefully I have three dominant receivers and the idiot can keep his head on straight

I'm worried about Floyd, and I think this move will definitely solidify you as a serious contender this post-season. If only you could have traded Floyd for Gordon last off-season when the Floyd train was blasting off, and Gordon's stock was way down. I am not high on Floyd and don't see him more than a future WR3 with possible WR2 upside. Ultimately I think this is not overpaying for Gordon as he is a top 5 WR when not high on drugs. I think the only way you regret this trade is if Gordon gets in trouble again, as I think he will hit the ground running in week 12.

With Moncrief and Adams, I love your future at WR.

I think you're overpaying for Gordon by a 2016 first. But it definitely gives you a better shot this year.

I don't think this is an overpay, but its definitely more than you'd have had to give a few months ago. Floyd really hasn't impressed me this year, and I'm not sure he's going to be more than a WR2 for your team. Plus, your firsts will be very late, so its not nearly as valuable in the scheme of things. I'd make the deal, watch Gordon go off and then sell him in the offseason for more.

3 weeks ago in a 12 team PPR Dynasty League I traded Michael Floyd to another owner for Josh Gordon and a 2015 1st. I think Gordon holds considerably more value than Gordon, but there are plenty of owners in my league who said they would not have traded Floyd for Gordon and the 1st because of the risk associated with Gordon

I think it's probably a mild overpay but if you get the best player and you win because of it, who cares.

Thanks. The 2015 1st could end up being 1.04. He's on the verge of the playoffs. There are four fring teams and three spots for them, so the pick could be higher than I expect

If you are cool with the risk of the possibility of another failed drug test, then do it. He can win you the week anytime he's on the field. As for the 15 first, it "could" be the 1.04 - it's a risk I'm willing to take for a 23 year old who 11 months ago was challenging to be the most valuable asset in dynasty. He's been at the team facility every day and seems to be acting like someone who's figured it out.
