Trading away Collins and/or Waddle

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading away Collins and/or Waddle

Postby rtmorgan57 » Tue May 21, 2024 11:04 am

We're in year six for this particular dynasty league. I've got a solid team that has been in the playoffs four of the five years. I finished second once and would have won except he had Chase with 50+ that week. Anyway, my point is that this has been a solid team that mainly came from me getting lucky with draft picks. I do think it's time for some changes but I'm not that good at trading so hopefully someone here can give me some thoughts on a trade. I'm also hoping to learn more about trading in general as it seems I play dynasty "wrong" in that I draft a team and play those guys for the most part.

12 Team, single QB, half ppr, start 9. We got rid of kickers and reduced the roster size a bit this year so I need to cut a few guys. Several of them are obvious cuts.

QB: Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, Tyler Huntley, Easton Stick
RB: Isiah Pacheco, Tony Pollard, James Connor, Keaton Mitchell, Elijah Mitchell, Tank Bigsby, Nyheim Hines, Deon Jackson, Deuce Vaughn, Ke'Shawn Vaughn
WR: Rashod Bateman, Noah Brown, Nico Collins, Gabe Davis, Tyler Lockett, Skyy Moore, Michael Pittman, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Xavier Hutchinson, Randall Cobb
TE: Dalton Kincaid, Noah Gray, Donald Parham, Cole Turner, Jelani Woods

A new guy in the league is trying to trade for Jaylen Waddle and/or Nico Collins. I'm not sure if he really wants those players or if he thinks I'm a sucker. Could be a bit of both I guess. So far he has offered me the following.

1.08 for Waddle
1.08 for Collins

2.02 and 2.06 for Waddle

Bryce Young, 1.03 and 2.02 for Collins, Waddle and 3.08

Tajae Spears, 1.03, and 2.02 for Collins, Waddle and 2.08

Jayden Reed, 1.03, and 4.03 for Collins, Waddle and 2.08

Were any of those trades something I should have taken? I would like to have that 1.03 but I didn't really like giving up two quality WRs for any of the trades he offered.

Thanks in advance

First of all, welcome to the Forum!!

Second, there isn't a "wrong" way to play dynasty. If you're preference is to draft and hold (and you're making the playoffs doing it), there's no need to change it up. Feel free if you want and/or see a better path. It just isn't right or wrong.

As for trading advice, I think you've found a great place here. Like you're doing now, feel free to post with questions, etc.!

As for the trades offered, none would get me at all interested. I'd very quickly reject all those trades like you did.

If I had gotten all those trade offers, in 1 of my rejections I would have sent a note about “if you want me to counter, you need to start with a real offer”

Yeah, these offers are borderline insulting, hold tight.

Agree with others, none of those are close for Collins or Waddle let a lone both. WR's look good (Waddle/Collins/Pittman/Deebo), RB room could maybe use a bit of a lift. Do you have a first rounder this year?

He is testing you. You were right to reject. You might want to tell him that you thought they were borderline insulting to just straighten him out or tell him you did not think they were particularly close if you want to put him on notice.
