Total rebuild draft strategy

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Total rebuild draft strategy

Postby mzkp54 » Mon Apr 27, 2020 8:05 am

Team 1 in sig. Blew up my whole team for picks last year and now have 7 of the first 22 picks (7 round draft). We start 11 on offense and I only really have 3 offensive starters right now so I’m imagining this will be at least a 2 year rebuild if this draft goes well. With that being said, a few things I’m debating (I know you can’t really advise pre-draft but just in terms of my planning):

1) do I try and trade up and consolidate picks to get a few more top guys in this draft, or stay where I am since my roster is so depleted?

2) since I have 2/3, who would be your top 3 targets? Not sure which way 1.01 is going. Would you prioritize qb since I only have 1 in a SF league, or RB since they have the biggest opportunity for immediate impact?

3) with my team not competing soon, do I prioritize WR with most of my later picks since they’re more likely to be impactful for a longer time? Even though I have literally no RB right now.

Thanks for any thoughts!

1) no I want lots of 1st and 2nd round picks. Unless you can cheaply get in the top 7-8, I wouldn't consolidate much.
2) burrow, tua, JT/CEH
3) I'd definitely be going after wr with your later picks, lots of depth this year to take dart throws at.

1.) Keep all your picks. You have a lot of holes, makes no sense to consolidate them to move up.

2.) My personal top three in a SF is Burrow, Tua, CEH. So I'd take two of those three.

3.) Take BPA, regardless of position. WR is the deepest position, RB is next, and TE is weak. So my guess is that even with BPA, you will end up with a decent number of WRs. Which is fine.

Agreed with both of the posts. Good way to go.

I wouldn't consolidate up. But I would consolidate out. I'd keep 5 of those first rounders especially 2 and 3. I'd look to move two of the others for an early 2nd and a 2021 1st each. This way you still get some dart throws in the 2nd while being able to add another 3+ 1st round players next year.

I'd grab at least 1 QB with 2/3. Assuming Burrow goes at 1.01 take Tua who won't play much if at all this year and that helps you get an early pick next year while stashing talent.

I'd go BPA after that regardless of position. If you want to look to flip some of these players for more 1sts later RB's generally offer more return early than WR's.

Teams 1 and 3 in my sig were both orphans that I took over and had to totally rebuild. Won the SF league last year. Came in top 3 two years in a row in the 16 teamer. Just by wheeling and dealing until I got as many picks as I could.
