Results of my league's draft (1QB, 10 team)

Dunno if this is of interest to anyone or the right place to post it, but I figure not everyone is doing their rookie drafts right away and might find it valuable to see how one panned out. I think there were a lot of picks where someone (in my estimation) reached by one or two picks, which resulted in a few big falls, but with the nature of the draft class, I could see draft orders being all over the place. The tight ends and Haskins went too early for 1QB imo and I've got no idea how JJAW fell so far, but otherwise I don't think it's super extreme.

I feel like I absolutely killed it as Team J (didn't originally have the 2.08 but traded back in when I saw Isabella fall that far), and think Teams I, A, and C had great picks/value too. Team D reached hard on Hock which is tough as their only pick, and I think Team F messed up pretty bad even though I believe in Marquise as a talent. Team H having the first two picks and not taking either of Jacobs/Samuel was super weird to me but it's not like I think Harry/Monty are bad, so take your guys I guess.

Thanks for posting ... the top of the draft is an eyebrow raiser (not sure how Montgomery leapfrogs Jacobs); however, the slide of the WRs mimics the NFL draft which is pretty interesting & suggests people realize it’s a dart throw on which WR will emerge.

This year, it’s going to be really hard to trade down ... I own 1.01 & 1.03. I’m taking Jacobs but really want to trade down from 1.03 b/c I don’t think the WR I like warrant that high of a pick. I’ll probably end up “reaching” for my first choice WR at1.03. 🤬

Yeah, it’s worth noting that we’re Chicago based, so eight of us are Bears fans. That said, this guy who had 1.01 was adamant for months in private conversation that he didn’t like Jacobs, so took Harry instead... but then got runningback FOMO and traded up from his 1.08 to 1.02 for Montgomery. It’s an eyebrow-raiser, like you said, but he was intellectually consistent in not liking Jacobs all along and didn’t pay all that much to make the move, so we’ll see.

You’re spot on about the WRs. I was absolutely floored I got DK at 10, as I was trying to move up from 10 to snag him and luckily was unable to. Isabella and JJAW went way late too in my estimation, but like... you said it, this pool of wides is deep but they’re all dart throws. I imagine most people’s drafts will see a couple similarly weird falls because people move on convictions they have on other WRs.

For your 1.01 and 1.03 predicament, you could always take two HBs if you can’t trade down or aren’t comfortable reaching.

Gimme Metcalf in Seattle. I'm overall a talent > situation person, but it's less that I wouldn't draft AJB in Tennessee and more that I love Metcalf in Seattle.

That said, I fully expected Metcalf to get taken before 1.10 and as we were getting close, I was gonna be perfectly thrilled to get AJB at 1.10 too.

I hate to be THAT guy, but this is a 10-team, start 7 league. There will be 3 - 4 rookies in this ENTIRE rookie draft that will have any relevance in this league.

We're just heading into year three of coaxing this group of friends from redraft guys to dynasty. We'll probably layer in another starting position or two over time. It'd be cool to do an expansion and have 12 teams eventually, but as we're all friends, they'd have to be two people we knew and trusted.

Also, this is a contract league on RSO, so that adds a little relevance deeper into the player pool when you factor contracts, years of control, and bidding into the equation.

Haha yeah, it can get tricky. Luckily, it’s gone preeeetty well so far — lots of us made big mistakes with bad investments early and one dude with an awful team kept selling off picks to one of the best teams in the league for ancient vets (that’s why the worst team in the league didn’t pick until 2.01), but it’s rounding into form.

We’re exploring adding a second flex for 2020 and adding a superflex in like 2021 or 2022, so people have time to adjust to the new world order of quarterback importance. Just doing a slow rollout with this stuff.

I actually even polled this forum and Isabella won in a close race. Coin flip. I like Isabella's potential to be used for Kyler similarly to Marquise Brown and how clearly enamored with him the Cards are. Good talent, good opportunity.

I do love JJAW too. I tried to trade back in AGAIN to grab him but nothin' doing.

It could be that CoD was letting the OP know that a 10 team league with only 7 start position requires about as much skill from a fantasy football perspective as playing the lottery and you were not smart enough to pick that up in the post so went off on some racist tangential thought process in a feeble attempt to prove a point.
