Which 5?

Postby Steelersfan » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:41 pm

This is a different league than my previous keep 5 post. PPR, QB's are by far the highest scoring players. Can only keep players 1 time.

I am the league champion so I pick last (10 team league).

Here's my keeper possibilities:

Rivers
Foster
Best
Hillis
Lynch
Maclin
Harvin
M. Williams (TB)
Knox

Thanks!

No-Brainers: Rivers/Foster/Maclin

Yes-Brainers - Best/Hillis/Williams/Harvin

IMO, the 1 season limitation makes these yes-brainers a little harder to figure out.

I think Best's best seasons are after 2011 while I expect Hillis to have a decent 2011 while hitting a plateau or dropping off in 2012 and beyond.

Williams and Harvin are both risky in their own right and so that leaves it up to a gut feel for 2011. I'd wait too see which QB the Vikings end up with before making that decision. If it's a Kolb/McNabb/Bulger/Young type I'd might go with Harvin for 2011. My own gut feel tells me Freeman and Williams come back down to earth a little in 2011 (no facts, just a feel) so my expectations are lessened.

That said,

Rivers
Foster
Hillis
Maclin
Harvin (sort of)
10 Team Keeper Non-PPR, TD(6pts), 100/300 Yrd Bonus, Big Play TD Bonus
Cut rosters down to 7 positional players prior to draft
Keep no more than 3 at any one position

QB(1) - M. Vick, K. Kolb, M. Cassel
RB(2/3) - A. Peterson, R. Mathews, J. Stew, F. Gore, M. Lynch, B. Scott
WR (3/4)- V. Jackson, D. Bryant, B. Marshall, M. Colston, M. Crabtree, D. Branch, 85, DT
K (1)- Hartley, Bryant
DST(1) - Dallas

In deciding who to keep though, shouldn't you just be comparing Best '11 vs Hillis '11 and Harvin '11 vs Williams '11? Saying he can only keep them 1 year means he has to release them back to the draft I believe, not that he can't ever keep them in the future if he drafts them again.

You got it, I don't like the format but it's not the keeper league I commish and the league is full of guppies...and there's a lot of cash involved... :D

Rivers
Foster
Hillis
Maclin
M. Williams (TB)

Due to the only keep players once clause I would go with Hillis over Best, in my opinion Best has a greater shot at playing at a high level longer than Hillis does.

This. I say Best over Hillis since I'm not convinced Hillis will be as effective as he was this past season, while Best could improve.

Hillis / Best might be a coin toss. I expect more from Best this year and less from Hillis. Since it's PPR, I'd default to Best.

I would keep; Rivers/Foster/Hillis/Best/Maclin

Rivers is an obv choice. You keep Foster and Hillis and try to cash in on thier production while it lasts, and stash Best because you most likely wont find a better RB3 in the VET draft. And finally I would take Maclin over Williams because I try to cash in on Vick's production while i can as well, esp in a PPR. Finally I'd like to add you could trade Best after he starts hot just like last season for striking value. Rbs are tough to come by in keeper leagues, stash em while you can, and go for the repeat. Then draft some plug and play WRs and use your FF expertise to maximize thier FPTs week to week! You are starting a Flex in this league right?

I like this suggestion....mostly because of the ppr scoring

I'm pretty sure I agree with this post, mostly because of the premium in RB's in keeper leagues.

qb Ryan, Vick, nassib, Barkley
