Trade away Brady?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade away Brady?

Postby Warhawks » Mon Jun 28, 2010 11:14 am

Thinking about offering Tom Brady & Ryan Grant for Eli Manning, Shonn Greene & a 1st round rookie pick for next year.
This is a 10 team league, ppr, idp. Starting requirements are (2)QB (2)RB (2)WR (1)TE (1)QB,RB,WR,TE as far as offense goes.

My players are:
QB Rivers, Brady, Big Ben, Vick, Whitehurst
RB DeAngelo, Grant, Michael Bush, Felix Jones, Marshawn Lynch, Karim, Snelling
WR AJ, Jennings, T.O., Royal, Britt, McCluster, Naanee
TE Gonzalex, Scheffler

Does this help my team? For now and the future? I know I lose at QB but I think I gain at RB plus the 1st round rookie pick for next year.

It's close but I think I would want a little more for Brady.

Although I think that this helps your team, considering your depth at QB, I would ask for more. Brady still commands a pretty good price and you are giving a solid starting RB back to him. I would either downgrade from Grant or ask for more back.

I'd ask for more for Brady. Also wondering if you need a QB in return with 4 on your roster?

Sure, if you can get more, go for it.

If not, I still think this would be a nice trade for you. Either way I think you are improving your team.

So you guys think this helps my team but I am letting Brady go too cheap? I agree but I don't know what to throw at him so he is still interested. I want to better my team but don't want to sell guys too cheap. Seeing his roster that I posted what would you suggest?

I would not make this move with your current roster. This season I see Greene not that much further ahead of Grant if at all and obviously Brady will be better than Eli. Thus, I think it would be a downgrade for this season's roster, which that teams looks poised to win a championship. I would stay put!
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon

Still looking this trade over. While I know I am poised to win the championship this year I think even with this trade I could win this year. I like Greene more than most and to be honest don't know where to rank him for this year. But adding the 1st round rookie pick for next year helps. Was also considering Brady and Grant for Ryan and Gore.

I like Grant more than Greene and Brady a lot more than Eli... I wouldn't make that trade. And I'd want more back in your new proposal as well. Gore is a modest improvement over Grant but you are giving to much at QB.

Gore is a modest improvement on Grant? I'm sorry but I have Gore ranked much, much higher than Grant. I have Gore ranked at #5 in PPR, and #4 in non-PPR (Ray Rice has a slight advantage in PPR IMO). Not only has he posted strong stats to support this in previous seasons, but now he has an improved O-Line and what should be a stronger passing game. Grant has Rodgers stealing TD's on the ground inside the 5. He simply is just not the same caliber player that Gore is. Not to mention Gore is the centerpiece of his offense, so you never have to worry about him getting his touches. And Gore doesn't have to face the Williams' Wall twice a season.
16 team league, non-PPR standard scoring plus bonuses. $200 cap
Schaub ($26/2014), Weeden ($5/2016)
McFadden ($35/2012), Richardson ($8/2018), Goodson ($2/2012), W. Powell ($2/2014), Taiwan ($5/2014) Bryce Brown ($2/2016)
Fitz ($32/2014), Nicks ($12/2012), DJax ($12/2013), Wayne ($12/2012) Collie ($8/2015), Hilton ($3/2014), Streeter ($3/2013), Hixon ($5/2012), Smith (STL $2/2015), B. Tate ($2/2012)
Gresham ($10/2016), Rudolph ($5/2015), Housler ($2/2017), C. Clay ($2/2015), Cooley ($5/2012)
Gostowski ($2/2015)
