Winslow or Carlson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Winslow or Carlson

Postby JayT » Wed May 19, 2010 10:47 am

With the recent report of yet another knee surgery for Winslow, who would you rather have moving forward? I have both and can only keep one.
10 teams; 0.5 PPR; 2QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1 RB/WR/TE.
QB - Rodgers, Luck, Winston, RG3
RB - McCoy, L.Miller, Dixon, Gio, Duke Johnson, Rawls
WR - Evans, A.Brown, Watkins, Coleman, Matthews, Cobb, Hurns
TE - Gronk, Reed, Eifert, D.Allen
K - Tucker
DEF - Cardinals, Giants
2017 picks: 1.10, 2.10, 3.10

Close but I have Winslow ahead of Carlson for now. Both are projected to become more involved.

I don't like either. But, if i hd to choose..it might be the one that can stay on the field. Winslow cannot stay healthy, although when he is healthy he has more of an impact.

I have never trusted Winslow because of the injuries but he did play all 16 games last season and this recent surgery has been reported as a minor "clean up". With that being said I would look to move him as he still has name recognition going for you and then you would keep Carlson...

Carlson. Not injured and I like that the Seahawks picked up some quality blocking TE's to get Carlson involved in the passing game. They lost Burleson to Detroit. I think Carlson is in line for a good year.

Winslow. 5 surgeries in 6 years? I'd avoid him unless I was desperate for a TE, unless I could get him for really cheap.

I would love to trade Winslow, but there won't likely be a market for him. I tried to trade him last year (unsuccessfully) and ended up keeping both him and Carlson. I've got more talent this year, so I won't be keeping 2 TEs again.

Despite being a "Soldier" Winslow isn't long for this league, roll with Carlson!

I'd take Winslow in a heart beat. He has had knee issues, no doubt about it. But he has played 16 games 3 of the past four seasons, and in all those years he has been very valuable (especially in ppr leagues). 89-875-3, 82-1106-5, 77-884-5 in those three full seasons. And he is developing his rapport with Freeman, a young QB with solid escapability (always a plus). I like Carlson a lot, and think he will be a solid fantasy asset down the line, but a constantly banged up Hasselback and a never thrown an NFL pass Whitehurst are his QBs. I'd rather have winslow.
