Which TE?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Which TE?

Postby bigcsr67 » Sat May 22, 2010 9:46 am

I am going to draft either Ben Watson or Shawn Nelson. I was wondering which one you guys prefer, because I am up in the air about who I should select as my back up TE. Any input would e greatly appreciated.

Nelson has more upside. Someone has to catch the ball in Buffalo and nelson has great hands, runs good routes, good speed and great height for red zone play action passing. He is also only 24 yeras old in his second year.

Total Tight End targets in the redzone for the bills in 2009: 3

Total Tight End targets in the redzone for the browns in 2009: 9

Not sure that helps much. I would probably go with Watson but don't have real high expectations. He wasn't really fantasy relevant with Brady throwing to him, now it is Delhomme....Wallace...

I went with Nelson, he has more upside I suppose, and he is my backup at the time anyways. Maybe he can become more involved with the new coaching staff, and a year under his belt.

It's a Toss-up. If Cleveland uses the TE, Watson will have a good year. Nelson is young, at least he has that going for him. I would think the new regime in Buffalo will use the TE more than the old regime, who had no clue what a TE was really for!! :D
Nelson has better upside,at least, in the longterm!

Good choice with Nelson. He has way more upside than Watson. You might have to wait some time, but even BUF cant be that bad forever...

QB: Herbert,Minshew
RB: Breece,Walker,Taylor,BRobinson,Allgeier,Spiller
WR:Jefferson,Lamb,DJMoore,QJohnston,Jameson,MMims, T.Marshall,Shakir,Gallup
TE: Andrews,Conklin
DST:DAL
2024 picks: 1.11, 2.10, 4.01, 4.05, 4.07, 4.11

I like the Nelson pick just for the upside factor. Don't see either been more than bye week fill-ins at best though.
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon
