This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jamaal Charles for a pick

Postby keelsatx » Thu May 20, 2010 11:01 pm

PPR. Start 1-2-3-1-Flex-K-Def.
Just a straight up trade. 1-for-1. Not worrying with current rosters, what rookie draft pick would be an even trade for Jamaal Charles?
P Manning
Mendenhall, Thomas, Moreno, Slaton, Maroney
Fitz, R Moss, Meachem, TO, Chambers, Avery, James Jones

1.1 or 1.2 is even for Charles.

don't be on the NON Charles side of this trade. If you can convince someone that he is only worth the 1.1, take it and run! I think he is worth far more than that.

Of course, in all fairness, I have Charles ranked higher than most. Perhaps a LOT higher than most.

There is no way I would send Charles away for a single rookie pick, no matter what that selection is.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Assuming you would be getting Charles, I would give up whatever pick right after Ryan Mathews is gone. So if Mathews is going to go 1.1, I would trade 1.2 for Charles. I like Mathews better though.

If you are trading Charles, I would only take the pick that lands you Mathews.
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon

I agree. I traded up to the 1.01 in a 16 team league to take Mathews. I would not trade him straight up for Charles. But I would trade any other rookie.

The answer is a big YES on your Slaton question, but why do you think the people are nuts?

I agree with you on the Matthews part, I think at this point Charles really looks like the franchise back in KC, and McCluster is more of a WR, Thomas Jones is only a short term option. People feel comfortable about Charles, since he has shown that he can produce in KC, and at least has a bit of a track record compared to any of these rookies, granted its still a smaller track record for Charles.

I would move Charles for the 1.1 in a heartbeat. I don't have Charles ranked very highly. I don't see how he is a top10 back in any way. I would surley rather have mathews at this point. I will give Charles the nod over slaton though. I think Charles will have a tuff time putting up solid rb1 numbers with jones in town, and who knows where mccluster will fit in after that.

Charles got over 650 yards in the last four games of the regular season, finishing the season with the same style as Larry Johnson's 05-06 season. I think TJones being there will keep him fresh this season and allow him to produce at a high level for a year or two more. I think if you have him highly ranked as a RB1, you have to be building your team to win the championship 2-3 years down the line and draft basically all youth. Otherwise, there are more immediate, sure-fire producers. Of course, if he drops in your draft, I think he can be a great RB2 if you've already snagged your QB or a tier 1 or 2 WR.
