Big Gronk Trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Big Gronk Trade

Postby auggiedoggies » Sun Jan 25, 2015 9:38 pm

Ok, so I'm in a discussion with a guy on Twitter about this deal. Note that i'm not involved, or in this league. The trade, in a ppr league is:

Give: Gronk

Get: Ladarius, Gates, 1.5, 1.8, 1.9. 2.5.

I don't think there's a chance in hell I would sell Gronk for that. Am I crazy?

scoffing at 3 1sts isnt anything to scoff at. but 2 of em being late id prob say no. mostly because its 6 roster spots for 1. youd have to scramble to figure out who to drop

I'd say that's death by volume, like Knotts pointed out, multiple players will need to be dropped to make room and not for any studs.

if the guy giving gronk is rebuilding, i dont think its bad. most think green is a top 5 te the day gates hangs em up, and he gets gates aswell. then he gets a top 5... 3 top 10's, and a mid 2nd. if you own gronk and you arent winning, he's a waste on your roster. he leads to wins which inevitably leads to lower draft spots. i always look at gronk and graham as a positional advantage, but that really only matters if your a contender. in general, any te is ok unless your playing the gronk or graham owner....so really you only have 2 teams to dodge.

if the gronk owner is a contender, this obviously changes everything, but i think if the guy is not a contender, its not a bad move.

Well i think it really depends on how many he can keep and if he has to drop anyone to make room but I like the trade unless he's a contender

This. It's difficult to comment without the context. E.g. if the person trading Gronk has another TE, say Allen, and weak at RB then I wouldn't mind the trade assuming he is rebuilding. Owner may consider this as the first step and then make another m:1 trade to move up in the first round. #speculation

In a straight PPR league I might but I don't value TE as much as some in that format.
12 team PPR league it would really depend on what my team looked like whether I would take that deal or not. Leaves you adequately covered at TE and 3 top 10 rookies. If I needed depth I could see pulling the trigger on this

TE: Gronk, Swaim, Maxx Williams

Rookie hype based on last years draft for one of the best players in dynasty. Ummm, no thanks.

Still he was significantly cheaper last offseason due to injury concerns. Not sure a healthy season erases all that concern but maybe for some it does.
I bought last year...I would still buy but the price is definitely alot higher now. In a straight PPR I wouldn't pay top 5 WR prices for him but just south of that and I would be more intrigued

I would say if I had a total rebuild with Gronk as the only real asset, I'd do that. But with that many assets traded for one, you have to also subtract the value of the assets you'll lose due to roster considerations.
