Best for my roster, or best player available?

Postby Swampdonkey17 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 8:08 am

Team is in sig, with picks. 10 teams, 20 rds, each player kept is bumped up 1 rd worth. With my 2nd rd pick, I think Julio will be there, and will be the last WR1 available. However if hes not for some reason, I was leaning towards Martin, Brees. ( I wouldnt draft them at that spot normally, but with players kept, those are next in line on draft board)

Martin: I expect him rb2 throughout season, however I see alot of value in the 4th rd for me (Spiller, Trent, Rice, and a reach for Ridley)

Brees: Manning,Stafford,Kaep,RG3, Luck,Rivers, Wilson,Ryan,Foles,Dalton are all being kept. Brees,Rodgers,Brady,Cam wont. 2 QB needy teams kinda hinted that they were gonna wait till the 3rd rd to grab a QB. I know Rodgers wont make it that far. Should I grab Brees as trade to force a deal? Or am I shooting myself in the foot? I kinda answered my own question but open to suggestions

for a ten team league, you are hurting at RB - that's where I would focus, unless a major stud WR was there, like Julio Jones. But still might lean Martin.

Don't jump on a QB, unless it's a start 2 QB league. You have serviceable options already.

Hurting? In a 10 team league I think I have 3 top 20 rbs, if not 15. The gap between Martin/Morrris and Spiller/Trent isnt that big to me with having Dez,Julio,Jordy starting each week.

I see rb value in 4th rd, and not much at all at WR that far back with keepers.

3 WR1 and a stable of RB2s I like.

I see what he was saying about your RBs. While i like Gio, I'm pretty nervous on what's going to happen with Hill there and Hue Jackson. Going into the draft I loved Gio, but am put off a lil by addition of Hill. I like Bell a lot too but think you cld definitely use another starting caliber RB. Michael and Lattimore are great for a dynasty league but not so much at this point in a redraft. I view them as handcuffs at this point in time with Michael real good upside for 2015. Even with the need for a starting rb I would probably take Julio. His injuries are concerning but he's just a nasty player with so much upside and game breaking ability. That would be a nasty trio of Nelson, Bryant & Jones. just my opinion

I'm not drinking the Bell kool-aid. I don't see Bernard as a carry-the-load guy, so am curious to see what Hill's role is there. not sure who your #3 guy is - I like Vereen, and Michael has some potential upside, but when talking redraft/keeper, I'd like to have more to rely on.

Bell and Bernard finished 15,13 at rb last year. Vereen when playing posted similar numbers. All 3 of those guys are expected to play more snaps by alot compared to last year.

After Julio, next best WR available is Fitz
After Martin there is Morris Gore,Rice, Gerhart, Spiller, Trent, Sankey, Ridley just to name a few. Now those players are rather close to me in a tier(s). Why reach for a guy in tjat group when I can get 2 similar players
2 rds later? There are maybe 5 "carry the load" guys. Im picking 9th and thays my Dez keeper pick.
Thanks for everyones input

I agree, rb should be your focus. Take Julio if available and if you are happy with Reed at te I would pound rb's pick after pick. If you hit on a couple you are set.

I have no plans of taking a QB this year, unless one falls real far. I dont value the position as much as most, Stafford costs me a 7th this year, im giddy about that one.

I guess this is my logic:

Dez,Julio,Jordy, Gio, Vereen with Trent, Spiller, Joique,Randle,Harvin on bench or

Dez,Jordy, Martin, Gio, Vereen, with Trent, Joique, Randle, Harvin, Fitzgerald on bench

Also into thoughts is each guy I keep costs one rd higher than last year. If one of the rbs hit in the 4th and is worth (they were drafted in or close to the 1st rd last year remember) it's a steal for me to keep him. Fitzgerald, or a wr close to his ADP ( I understand you guys dont know whos kept in my league) doesnt have the potential to be a steal.

I know an owner is always higher on a player than most, but I'm honestly baffled in the "hurting at rb" situation. is it the talent youre saying or the lack of depth? I see Gio as borderline 1/2. Bell and Vereen RB2. I see incredible value rds 3-5 in rbs this year.

Im gonna add what players are costing me in signature, maybe it paints a better picture

Taking Brees at that spot is purely based on trading him for rbs
