This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

trade advice involving cobb

Postby bucsrule » Wed Jun 05, 2013 7:35 am

12 team, ppr

i have just been offered a trade..well, two trades really, for randall cobb.

these offers involve team 2 below.

offer 1:

i give randall cobb

i get andre johnson and his 1.12 in the rookie draft (i own 1.8)

offer 2:

i give randall cobb and my 2.8 in the rookie draft

i get antonio brown and his 1.12

typically i'm not into giving young studs for old ones, so if i did either one i'd lean toward the brown deal. there are a couple players i really like in the 1.12 range based on my other drafts. perhaps the brown deal is closer if i keep my 2.8? downside is i own sanders already, but i've had him for a few agonizing seasons. if you're a sanders owner, you understand.

thoughts?

Cobb is being valued as a Top 10 WR. I would think you could get a lot more for him than Brown or AJ/1.12. No way I do either deal.

What does his roster look like? Could come up with a better counter if you were set on trading Cobb.

I don't think either of the trades are close enough and I would keep Cobb. Your just getting rookie fever and are looking to pick up extra picks no matter the cost. What about trading a player and 2.8 to move up to 1.12?

I own Cobb in several leagues and I would not a take more then 5 seconds in rejecting both trades.

I think you lose too much in the age difference with AJ and Cobb and the pick is no where close enough for me to make up the difference. I think AJ has lost his "stud" status, but that is just my opinion.

The second offer is not even close enough for me to counter.

I don't think you'll get the value you want for Cobb yet, so I'd follow everyone and hold him.

Looking at it again, you could combine the offers if you really need the WR starters. I believe the following is a fair counter:

Cobb/2.08

for

Andre Johnson/Brown/1.12

Keep Cobb. He's a low end WR1 or high end WR2 for years to come with Rodgers throwing to him. That's money in your pocket each and every week.

I'm guessing by 'fan' you mean 'believer'? What possible reason could you not believe the hype about Cobb? Did you watch him play last year? The guys is a highlight reel of great catches and missed tackles. Rodgers relied on him more and more as the season went on and would just throw the ball up to him in critical situations and he almost always came down with the ball. It's crazy to think this kid is just going into year 3.

To the OP, it's an easy reject as you would be losing a lot of value in either deal.

Would anyone trade Cobb for David Wilson and Lamar Miller?
