McCaffrey Offer

Postby Indy Blue » Wed Oct 04, 2023 7:50 pm

This involves Team 2 Below. I'm 2-2 on the season after winning the Championship last year. I got an offer from the current highest scoring team in the league who is also 2-2. It's

Give: CMC
Get: Pacheco, Puka, 2024 1

I'm open to moving CMC because while he is clearly the best fantasy RB in the game, he is 27 and I would prefer to sell high before he starts to fall off and this feels like a good season as I don't think I win the championship given my lack of depth at RB and my are all having a down season.

However, the offer feels light, even with Pukas breakout.

The only other players he has that I would really be interest in are Tony Pollard, AJ Brown,
Team 1
10 Team, 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 SF

QB: Mahomes, Cousins, Howell, Levis, Z. Wilson
RB: Taylor, Chubb, Walker, Achane, Kamara, A. Jones, Roschon Johnson, CEH, White, Ingram
WR: Lamb, Chase, AJ Brown, Evans, D. Johnson, Jeudy, Smith-Njigba, Hyatt, Scott
TE: Kittle, McBride, Schultz, Mayer, Mallory

Team 2
12 Team, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex

QB: Hurts, Watson, M. Jones
RB: McCaffrey, Taylor, Dobbins, Roschon Johnson, Josh Kelley
WR: Lamb, Godwin, Higgins, Palmer, Tyler Scott
TE: Andrews, Engram, Gesicki, Woods, Mallory

Team 3
12 Team, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Superflex, 2 Flex

QB: Richardson, Tannehill, Mariota
RB: Sanders, White, Foreman, Scott, Brown, Kelley, Hill, Rodriguez
WR: Dotson, Johnson, Boyd, Slayton, Thorton, Downs, Duvernay, Patrick, Berrios, Austin, Gray, Williams, Scott
TE: Okonkwo, Smith, Musgrave, Washington, Bellinger, Granson, Ogletree, Mallory

This offer isn't even close. I'd simply ignore the offer. Pacheco is a ok rb, but he is a rb 2 at best with the offense, Pukka is still a unknown with what will happen when Kupp returns and a late 1st is still a bit of a crap shoot. I'd need something more in return.
I think if you move off of CMC your giving up your best chance to repeat, so I'd hold for now and see what happens with JT. Hopefully you can make another run.

At first glance, I almost bit. I love me some Puka and 2024 1sts. Pacheco is great for KC, a good NFL RB, and fun to watch, but he will only have three-four RB1 weeks. Just the nature of KCs offense.

Your team with C-MAC has a chance to repeat. I'd be moving to add to "win now" efforts for the repeat no trading C-MAC. You can still move C-MAC after that!
Team of record, and not the whole team, but enough for questions I'll be asking...
QB: CJ Stroud, Minshew, Hendon Hooker, Trey Lance
RB: Etienne, Jerome Ford, E. Mitchell, Jordan Mason, Jerrick McKinnon, Deuce Vaughn, Keaton Mitchell, Pierre Strong
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, Brandon Aiyuk, Gabriel Davis, Tank Dell, Romeo Doubs, Alec Pierce, Demario Douglas, John Metchie, Charlie Jones
TE: Dallas Goedert, Jawaun Johnson, Chig Okonkwo
IDP (start 2LB, 2DB, 1DL)

Relevant picks:
2024: THREE 1st, THREE 2nds, TWO 3rds
2025: 2nd, two 3rds, 4th, 5th

Roster 30 (+3 IR), keep 20; Scoring: 6pts per TD for all, 0.5 PPR
Start: 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR/TE, 1TE... the rest is insignificant for most posts :)
7 round rookie/FA draft each year.

I get the Nacua value currently but when moving the best RB in fantasy (even with age), I would want to make sure he remains really solid once Kupp is back. CMC is a league winner and the return should reflect that. It's closer if the 1st is realistically the 1.01/1.02.

I think the offer is pretty decent value (and if Puka scares you you can probably use the hype and flip him for Garret Wilson or something)

But if you are trading CMC to an already good team that pick is going to be late.

And I'm just not sure your team is worth giving up on yet. Yea you are 2-2 but you have a top 3 QB, the #1 RB, a top 5 WR, and a top 3 TE. Plus you should be getting JT back.

I think I'd be more likely to try to buy some point from aging vets when I need them and make a run.

But if you are set on kicking of a rebuild you could do much worse.

Unless that pick is guaranteed top 3, it’s not close for me. CMC is the best week to week asset in fantasy. An upstart receiver and 7th round rb on a pass heavy team are not close to enough value for him.

Moving CMC in this context is making .500 competitor’s squad much better in theory, which is going to drag that pick value down. Not enough for CMC in my opinion.

I’d be on the other side here. Looking at your team, I don’t think kicking of a rebuild is a bad idea, doesn’t look like a top 3 team to me. And if I’m not too 3, I wanna be bottom 3. The middle sucks.
Also, I think the return is ok too. But I’ve bought in big on Puka and whatever you think his value is would be a big part of this trade. If you did it, I’d look to flip Pacheco right away.
