Taylor/ Burks for. Bateman/Akers

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Taylor/ Burks for. Bateman/Akers

Postby Openmountain » Thu Aug 31, 2023 5:35 pm

Ok, I have an offer that would be me trading
Akers, Bateman, late 24 1st, and late24 2nd for
Johnathan Taylor and Treylon Burks. Thoughts on this trade offer. I looked up 2 different trade calculators that were opposite of each each other. Accept? I would get Taylor and Burks.
QB DeShaun Watson, CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis
RB Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Alexander Mattison, Roschon Johnson, Kendra Miller
WR Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, Chris Olave, JSN, Treylon Burks
TE George Kittle, Noah Fant, Dalton Schultz, Luke Schoonmaker

Smash accept.

Maybe not smash, with having to give 2 picks, but Akers + late 1st is cheap for JT and Bateman + a 2 feels cheap for Burks.

I wouldn't sell my JT or Burks shares for that

Akers is a major gamble still as is Bateman. Take the nice value and acquire low on both Taylor and Burks. Nice deal for you.

I dont see whats so smashy about it. I like Bateman way more than Burks. He is faster, is a better route runner and had better hands. A much more polished receiver. Both have had injury issues, but young players tend to do that.

I like Akers more than most. He is still young. He is talented. I tend to look at his last four games last year and judge him on that. I like that he battled back from Achilles in the same year to help his team. So he had a fight with his coach. bfd. I like Taylor too, but that man has a ton of carries (college and pros) under his belt. I think adding a first and a second in a loaded year as well as Akers to get him sounds about right, but smash accept? I dont think so imo.

JT side for me. I don't trust Batemon. I doubt you could get a 1st for him. Burks could recoup your 1st here at some point. Then you are giving Akers and Batemon for JT. That's great value, imo

Chase, Lamb, Waddle, Olave, London Drake, Demario Davis, Jake Bobo

Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews, Kincaid, Schoonmaker

24 picks - 1x2, 3,4,5

Team 2-
12 man SF, .25ppc, .5ppr rbs, 1 ppr wr, 1.5 ppr TE

Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawerence, Jake Haehner, Jake Browning

I like myself at this point over Bateman, so not sure how to file this post.

Nice work.

I will point out that trade calculator values shouldnt be taken very rigidly. I use them quite a bit for comparing players and rankings, but calculators don't adjust very well for the 'four quarters for a dollar' type trades. For example, KTC says that 5-6 thirds are worth a 1st. We all know there is just about no amount of thirds that would ever be worth a 1st just because of roster limitations alone, not to mention abysmal hit rates.

Taking the best players in a trade usually works out, so I like your side here.
