Gibbs or Higgins

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Gibbs or Higgins

Postby frerichs5 » Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:44 pm

12 team ppr

Start 2RB, 3WR, 2 flexes

Who are you taking in a vacuum? Gibbs or Tee Higgins?

Higgins. Young, proven, good and will be productive longer. Gibbs is under 200 lbs. I don't think the hype is warranted or the draft capital.

Higgins. He is a solid young WR who has shown he has top 10 ability. Gibbs has value but also plenty on cons at the next level.

Piling on. I think Gibbs can be plenty productive but Higgins is a known commodity.

Thanks everyone! That’s the way I was leaning also.

DLF & Sleeper ADP both have Gibbs higher. So interesting everyone here is on Higgins so far!

Value probably with Gibbs. In this setting I tend to prefer WRs. Guess it would depend on my build.

I'm a Higgins owner on my main team and I want to make the counter argument.

First off, given the start 3WR format I am fine with Higgins side of this deal, however:
I don't agree that Higgins has top-10 potential. On a PPG basis he was WR12 in '21 and WR19 in '22. I view him as a consistent (safe) option in the WR15-22 range as long as Chase is healthy
As Chase has emerged, Higgins has suffered. His target share declined once Chase was fully healthy
Gibbs will be the 2nd best pass catcher on the field for DET on week 1
Gibbs has a legit chance to exceed 60 receptions which is only 13 shy of what Higgins had last season

For me it comes down to team need and whether one believes we've seen the best of Higgins. Would you rather have a RB2 with upside or a consistent WR2?

Gotta take Higgin’s PPG from last year with a grain of salt. He had three games where he was “active” but ended up not even playing or playing one snap. If you throw those out, he’s right on track for the WR12 like he was the previous year.

I understand and you can adjust the stats all you want. What I can say as an owner, I started him those games and my league didn't allow me to adjust that!!!

Thanks everyone! I ended up getting this done and sent off 1.02 and got back Higgins.

My main lineup will now be:
QB - Burrow
RB - Brian Robinson
RB - Allgeier? (Or 2nd round rookie pick?)
WR - G Wilson
WR - Devonta Smith
WR - Olave
TE - Pitts
Flex - Tee Higgins
Flex - Dotson

Obviously RBs are lacking. Best bench players are only TLaw, Kmet, Juwan, Slayton, & Metchie. Have several dart throw backup RBs. No 1st this year now, but have the rest of my picks for more dart throws. On the bright side I do have my own 1st plus one other 1st (probably later) for next year. So could try to find some cheaper RBs if everything starts firing.
