Was offered Hockenson for my 2024 1st

Team #3 in sig

Not enough room left in my sig to show my various TE's, but team #3 only has Hunter Henry and Likely right now. Our rookie/FA draft was last month and my first pick was a late 3rd after trading for Adams/Hop in a late playoff push so pretty much all of the top rook TE's were gone by then.

Got two offers this morning with the first one being Hockenson for my 2024 1st and a quick followup of Hock and Brandin Cooks for my 1st/2nd combo.

Hock is looking for his extension deal after his best season but a huge amount of his stats came from just two monster games where he scored almost 40 PPR. The rest of his games were usually something like 5/50 as an average with five more TD's spread out for the remainder of the season.

The FA listing is pretty bare so other than searching for another TE trade partner, I have to wait for our preseason late August cut down and see who might show up. The offering team has Fant, Irv Smith, and drafted Laporta and Mayer, so i expect Smith to be available as a drop but not sure about his comeback in Cincy. My other shot is to take my chances with Henry splitting time with Gesicki and hope for some production out of him.

My trade analyzers say Hock is worth the 1st but I'm not sure this team can afford to give up a probable mid to late 1st (finished in 4th in '22) based on it's needs. Late August cut down will get rid of some wannabees but I need to get younger at WR pretty quick.

Your top end options are aging and your younger pieces are a gamble with upside but concerns. Your 1st could end up mid and then this will have been pretty expensive overall. I would hold as of now and retool in season if the wheels come off.

My WR room is about to sign up for Social Security benefits so yes I'd rather hold onto the 1st and either save it or maybe look at a trade for a young strong 2nd or 3rd year proven WR.

Not a chance. WR is your biggest need. TE is secondary concern at best. Save your 1st for a more helpful option.

That team is looking more like a sell than a buy kind of roster. I’d keep your 1st and trade all your older players near the beginning of the season, when everyone is focused on scoring points.

The trade is a coin toss but in regards to your sig - don’t show ALL your players. We don’t need to know if you have Justyn Ross or Breshad Perriman or whoever. Just give us the core guys. That way you can give US an accurate representation of what your team actually is, for feedback purposes.
