This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

JJ for G Wilson++

Postby phillyfan56 » Fri Jun 09, 2023 9:15 am

12 team dynasty SF PPR TEP

Give: Justin Jefferson, Antonio Gibson
Get: Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, Quentin Johnson, 2024 2nd

I'm not sure my team can compete this year but is this enough to move off of JJ?

Team:
QBs: Herbert, Stafford
RBs: Sanders, Montgomery, Gibson, Robinson, Carter
WRs: Jefferson, Waddle, Dotson, Pickens, Sutton, M Thomas
TEs: Goedert, Njoku, Higbee

No, this wouldn’t be enough for me to move JJ.

Essentially the trade is JJ for Wilson. Everything else is noise where QJ and Jameson could bust. Wilson should be great and take that next step, but the unknown is still there.

JJ is one of the safest asset to have for the next 2-5 years. It should take an overpay to get him.
12 Team PPR League, 25 Man Rosters, 2 Taxi Squad
Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, FLEX

QB- Murray, Lawrence, Mayfield
RB- Montgomery, Javonte Williams, Najee Harris, Jamaal Williams, Carter, Joshua Kelly, Trayveon Williams, Eli Mitchell
WR- J. Jefferson, Tyreek, D. Smith, Tank Dell, Curtis Samuel, Hollywood Brown, Renfrow, Rashee Rice
TE- Pitts, Ferguson, Higbee

Taxi-Kraft

Easily Jefferson for me. Williams and Johnston are complete unknowns and despite Wilson's offseason hype and value, this is an easy pass for me. There is a lot of youth and potential on the other side, but Jefferson is the best asset in dynasty. No need to take on the uncertainty here.

This is good value for JJ. Gibson and the 2nd are just noise that cancel each other out, so it's really Wilson, QJ and Jameo for JJ. That's something along the lines of 3+ 1sts, with Wilson's being very early. And while you shouldn't use them blindly, trade calculators still make a good sanity check, and literally every trade calculator I've looked at has it in favor of the Wilson side.

The problem is that unless your team is a wasteland at WR, you probably don't want to give up one stud for three guys with stud potential. Your team does not look bad at WR, so I would hold JJ here.

Also, just personally, I've moved off of Jameo. I hope he pans out, but I'll let someone else hope the guy with 9 catches in a year and a half overcomes the odds. I'm not selling for pennies or anything, but I'm definitely not buying at anything close to value.

What are the starting positions? It’s Jefferson almost regardless but if it’s start 12+ or a deepish best ball it’s at least close-ish. Whoever said the other wr pieces are noise, that’s kind of insane to me. They’re 1st round values which have a good amount of value, just not enough to move off Jefferson.

Wow!
Yeah, I would sell JJ for that haul.

GW is now selling for about 70% of JJ value by himself right now.
Getting two more 1sts and a 2nd on top of GW is solid haul for JJ, IMO

Lol, I’ve got one out as well.

Wilson looks like he could ascend, so if you need the depth this isn’t bad. Wilson could develop into something close to the Jefferson/Chase tier, so the rest adds value to your squad. If you don’t need the quality depth, I wouldn’t make the trade, all the pieces would have to pan out to make it the overpay Jefferson deserves.

I say this a lot but when I see guys like JJ, Chase, guys in that stratosphere… It’s almost every time, that guy. This is no different and is JJ all day. I think the only trades that make sense for guys like this is if you’re moving the 1-2 at a position for a 1-2 at a different position, like JJ for Mahomes in SF… something like that.
PW league - 10 tm Dynasty league-Roster/Keep 28 - Pass:1/20 3pt TD; Run/Rec:1/10 6pt TD; no ppr; no neg pts
st:1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 d, no flex
QB - TLaw, Tua, JimmyG
RB - Breece, Chubb, Javonte, BRob, Moss, Zamir, Jaleel, Perine, Bigsby, RoJo (Chi), Tucker, C-Rod, Chase, Spiller
WR - Addison, Godwin, Nico, Gabe, Zay Jones, Mooney, Hyatt, Tillman

PK -Tucker
Def - 49ers
Picks: 2024 - 1.08, 3.01-7.01 and add’l 3.09; 2025 - 1-7

E league - 14 team-can keep up to 9 but keeper round moves up 1 each year, no 1st or 2nd round players can be kept; number is parens = next year’s keeper round; * = player was kept for 2023
Pass 1/20, 4pt TD, Run/Rec 1/10, 6pt TD, 1ppr, Fum/Int = -1, other scoring is pretty regular
QB - Jimmy G(*16), Purdy(*9), Stafford(12)
RB - D-Mont, AJ Dillon, Lenny(17), Carter (19), D’Onta(9), P Taylor
WR - JJeff(3), Adams(*4), Godwin(*8), MWill(*5), OBJ(*13), Woods, Hyatt(10), Tillman(18)

If you can guarantee me that JJ goes for 1900 yards again in the next 3 years this makes sense.. but historically even elite WR production is somewhat volatile.

It's hard to move off a young elite talent like JJ that just put out an historic season but this is usually the best time to.

Recency bias is a hell of a drug. Garrett Wilson could outscore JJ in 2023, himself.
