Trade Purdy for Gibbs in SF?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade Purdy for Gibbs in SF?

Postby hockeyBjj » Wed May 31, 2023 8:10 am

Team 2 in sig. previously had a deal for CMC that fell through due to a dispersal draft. Trying to get an RB for my contender to fill the void that I feel will be left by Cook and Mixon. 2nd place 3 years in a row and getting desperate as I fear my window is closing soon.

QB wise if I traded away Purdy I’d still have Lamar, Daniel Jones, Geno Smith, and Jordan Love.

Do it? Shoot higher for more established RB? Deal is verbal at the moment contingent on Gibbs being available at 1.6 which we think he will be

There is an adjustment happening right now, but basically Purdy was going in the 8-10 round range in SF startups with Lance the one going by Gibbs in the 3rd round. There’s a million reasons for you to take Gibbs here but that value add being the greatest reason. It’s also better for your build, safer, and still leaves you loaded at QB.

I am shocked this is an option even in SF. Gibbs easily for me and hustle to make the deal. We have no idea what will happen at QB in San Francisco next year or whomever starts if their job is safe.

Oh my, yes make this deal. But will you be keeping it under wraps until 1.6 is on the clock? And, how do you think the first 5 picks will go in this league? What is your plan if Gibbs is not available at 1.6?

I'll add this:

I'm down on this year's class, and I would still easily rather have 1.06 than Purdy in just about any universe. There are far more than six players I like better than Purdy. Take the value, and make a pick or trade 1.06 if possible.

I’d still make the deal for 1.6 not knowing if Gibbs will be there.

Yeah, Gibbs on value by quite a bit.

Well the trade didn’t happen. Gibbs surprisingly went 1.03, which resulted in JSN being available at 1.06 and this owner happily took him there instead of the deal for Purdy

Basically we expected Bijan, the 3 QBs, and JSN to be gone by 5. And if that was the case he was open to trading 1.6 to me and I’d happily grab Gibbs there. But that wasn’t how the draft played out. He was the only owner that high on Purdy (or Love), so it wasn’t like I could get up there with someone else to take Addison or QJ
