Where do I go from here...

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Where do I go from here...

Postby Bisquiteen Trisket » Sat May 27, 2023 3:49 pm

I think I need to make some major changes to this team. But I dont know where to start.

Aside from QB, my team has almost no depth and most weeks last year I could barely field a starting lineup. Ive finished in the bottom half of the league each of the last 3 seasons and havent made the playoffs.

So...where do I go from here?

Could we get a little more details on the league, scoring, starting requirements, etc?

If this is an SF format, build around Mahomes and Hurts and from there, shop all your assets and see what options are out there. You may have to wait for the right time to move certain assets to maximize value but this build has a multiple year rebuild feel with smart trades and picks in the draft to get back on track long term. You could also shop your QBs to see if the return helps more overall versus holding. If it is SF though, you need a haul for either.

I say it all the time, it never hurts to shop.

That’s what I was thinking. I don’t want to sell Mahomes or Hurts, but if the right deal came along I would. I’m thinking of offering off basically everything else for picks next year or younger developing players.

Ya this is kind of tough because your QBs are so good. Is this year’s rookie draft over?

We are mid way through. I didnt have a 1st or 2nd this year. I was middle of the pack last year, traded my 1st for Pittman to make a push and that didnt work out. No one was willing to make a fair deal for me to move into the 1st round during the draft.

Right now Im trying to target a good under 25 yo wide receiver, using Etienne as the main piece.

Yikes, this is bad news. I’m tempted to say hold Mahomes, Hurts, Jameson Williams, and Likely. Shop and sell everybody else for future picks or younger assets, but like Gator always says you need to be patient and smart with trades to maximize value

I think a realistic long term rebuild is probably the best idea. So if you could get a huge haul for Hurts or Mahomes, it would be wise to consider it. ETN for a young WR is a good start. Maybe price check Stroud and Young too. You should be playing for the 1.01 next year

Yeah I think it will be in the middle to early first. He wont have much at WR after this trade (Evans, Gabe Davis, Deebo), will have Kirk and Herbert at QB and a decent RB stable (ETN, Jacobs, Mixon, DHarris, DPierce)

I don't think you have a choice but to sell Mahomes and (certainly) Hurts. You don't have enough assets around them to sell or build around. With just your draft picks, you're looking at years and years, IMO. I would 100% sell Hurts -- his profile doesn't scream longevity. And Mahomes, too. You could get monster hauls for both, and I don't see another realistic path toward being competitive.

As for the trade offer, that's a pass. IMO, you need to start selling your assets into multiple pieces rather one-for-ones, two-for-twos, etc.
