Anderson or Carter

Postby wickerkat1212 » Sun Feb 12, 2023 11:09 am

I guess for IDP leagues these players will have fantasy value, but as a Bears fan I'm looking at our pick.

Who is a better player?
Are they both blue chip?
DE vs DT, I know, different players.
Would you be happy with either?

Thoughts?

I keep hearing Anderson is the guy we should take, but then I see some say Carter is the generational talent here.

Thoughts? Think fantasy AND Bears, and how if might effect the draft, and your teams as well. I'm open to all talk here.

I will have to dig into both. I do not play in any IDP leagues anymore, so both are off my radar ha ha.

personally think Chicago HAS to trade back. Its not a secret that they're not a D lineman away from making the playoffs.

putting that aside, as far as football goes I dont think you can really make a wrong move here. As far as IDP leagues go, give me the DE over the DT all day.

I'd be happy with either, as these two are far and away the top 2 lineman in this draft class.
I am not sure that there is a Lineman, offense or defense, worth a top 10 pick other than these 2.

That doesn't mean tthat no other lineman will be picked, but these two have superstar potential which vanishes after these 2 lineman are gone.
As for which to pick, tough.
My guess would be Anderson, as I think he is better at pressuring the QB, which seems to be a premium in the NFL these days.

Most mocks I have seen have Carter going first, and no one should complain if that happens.
Looking at the Bears depth chart, they could use help at both DT and DE positions, so it really is just a matter of salt OR pepper.
Just a different flavor.

I know that Bears fans dream is to trade back, but unfortunately, I don't see a QB in this draft class worth trading up for.
Too bad it is not 2024, and Caleb Williams coming out, you would get a haul for the 1.01 then.

I just finished reading Dane Brugler's top 100 rankings, and he has these two players ranked as the 2 best players in this draft class, and I agree.

He has Jalen Carter ranked #1:

"When attempting to sum up Jalen Carter’s impact, I keep coming back to three words: special block destruction. Not only does Carter have a rare combination of body control, quickness and power, but he is also highly skilled at using all three traits in unison to defeat blocks. While I have similar grades on him and Will Anderson Jr., the value of Carter’s interior disruption is what gives him the edge."

Will Anderson Jr ranked at #2:

"The first player in Alabama history named a unanimous All-American twice, Will Anderson Jr. is an explosive first-step rusher with a bendy, flexible frame that allows him to attack blockers from different angles. As talented as he is as a pass rusher, he is equally skilled and dynamic as a run defender (62 tackles for loss in 41 college games)."

Really think you can't go wrong with either player.
