Who to Keep? Kindly pick 3 in poll

Postby Paul717 » Wed Jun 01, 2022 8:35 am

Hi all. We still have 2+ months before our draft, but I'm starting to think about keepers and cuts already.

For team in signature, it was rough last year due to injuries and missed time. If things break right this year, I could be a playoff team.

We keep 16 players and draft 8, including rookies and veterans. I've bolded 13 players I'm leaning towards keeping. Asking for opinions on the remaining 3 keepers and / or if I'm too high on a bolded potential keeper in people's opinions.

We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST. It is PPR scoring. I have pick 1.05 and in the 5th slot every round. Thanks.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: 1.06, 2.06, 4.06, 5.06, 6.06, 7.06, 8.06

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.

Your bolded players make sense to me based on format and number of teams. Your remaining three are not great options so while I think Williams is cut-able, I understand holding him over some of the other options. I would also keep: Duvernay, Westbrook and either Cephus or Johnson. I don't think any of the RB's have much value or hope moving forward. I could also see holding Ridley on the hope but he could very easily be a wasted roster spot as time goes on.

Appreciate the response Gator. Agree that Jamaal Williams is not the sexiest keeper, but with the relatively modest 2 year - $6 million deal he signed last year; I'm hoping he lasts another year on the Lions and gets a similar workload as last year.

I'm definitely leaning some of the guys you've mentioned. Picking at 1.05 I'd likely be going WR, which means my arm could be twisted into keeping a 5th RB like Patterson.

I've got Ridley as a great stash. Worth the gamble because he could regain value as high as a 1st in a future trade if he comes back and lands in a decent situation.

I also take a shot on Duvernay. Really good overall player who could do something if given the chance which may happen with M Brown now gone.

Appreciate the response here. Admittedly I've been wary of being burned again...I held AB for a LONG time and ultimately the few great games he had may not have been worth the wait. But I will have to strongly consider Ridley.

Oh hey buddy! Do you think he has any trade value in our league? If so, what do you think teams might be willing to pay?

I’d keep Ridley and Duvernay. Guess just pick one after that. I probably wouldn’t be looking to roster any of them.

NOT a pretty group of players. Ridley was the one I would actually keep of the motley crew.

WHY keeping two defenses as well? I get holding the Cowboys but also the Lions? YUCK!

Good point, but I should've pointed out that starting a few years ago, EVERY DST gets kept. So if I let the Lions go someone would snatch them up fairly early in our draft.

i prefer Tyler johnson after the obvious keeps of Ridley and Duv. think his path to success is very straight and he'll even see a lot of usage early on with godwin probably not being rushed back right away. you may be able to flip him after a couple solid games or keep him.
