MT for Taylor Straight Up?

Postby krtbuckeye » Thu Sep 24, 2020 8:08 pm

Taylor owner is asking if I’d give MT straight up for Taylor. I feel like I can compete either way, but WRs seem a bit more replaceable than RBs, and I think Taylor will be a stud for a while since es only 21. Make the move or hold?

Your team looks more competitive with MT. I'd hold him too.

In what way are elite WRs easier to find than elite RBs? Not being an a$$, genuinely curious on your thoughts.

I think he's saying that the drop off from the top tier running backs to the 2nd and 3rd is great than it is with WRs.

I agree your team looks more intimidating with MT, and you should be good enough to get by u till he is back healthy. MT will still hold elite value to make a move to get you get after this season, so you can make that type of move later. Voted MT

The league is producing more 1000 yard recievers, but less 1400+ yard recievers, I think Thomas would be a sell candidate right about now. His value is hovering around peak, and probably can't go up at all. See if he'll add a second to get it done now. Also I would then be shopping Mixon or Kamara for Elite WR production. It might seem like a run around, but building around JT is a winning play here.

This is essentially the heart of what I was getting at. Some of my comment stems from league-specific trade value dynamics as well. Usually, an elite WR can be had for a lesser WR and decent draft capital, while a top RB will cost you a slightly lesser top-tier RB, major draft capital, and often more. The RB pool on waivers is bare, but serviceable WRs can be had throughout the season also.

Another consideration here is that in our drafts, like many, RBs fly off the board early with WRs being left as the de facto “2nd tier” no matter landing spot. I’ve used future draft capital to build up this team, which was terrible when I took it over a few years back. With having what I expect to be a late 1st next year and only another 1st in 2023, I’m ultimately trying to decide if this move may be the best hedge of getting production now and moving forward.

I think it is likely that JT will go ahead of MT in start-up drafts next year, and MT isn't playing in the short term.

I appreciate the feedback here! I ultimately decided to hold MT here. This could go either way in the future, but just not enough to move MT, IMHO
