Cooks vs watkins poll
Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
not close, Watkins easily! Cooks has had two of the best qbs of all time throwing him the ball. Cooks route running sucks and he has not gotten better in years. he hit his ceiling years ago, we are about to find out what Watkins ceiling is.

Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
total other end of the spectrum. brandin cooks by a wide margin. idc who has been throwing him the ball, cooks produces better and barring a total shocker will continue to produce better than watkins. not very close either for me

Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
I'd rather have watkins but cooks is by far more valuable as of right now
Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
People here argued that McKinnon and Watkins must be good because they got paid. If that's the case, then Cooks > Watkins. For what it's worth, I don't typically value my players based on their contracts and would have taken Cooks over Watkins even before he got his extension.

previously i would have said cooks but now i like sammy more. i think he has more potential in KC than cooks does in LA. going forward i have sammy over cooks. i personally think cooks value will fall while sammys can only rise.

Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
I'd actually argue that Sammy has more/better competition for targets with Hill and Kelce, than Cooks does with Kupp and Woods. And at this point, Goff is the proven QB who I'd rather have throwing to my WR than Mahomes (that can obviously change quickly if Mahomes ends up proving he can be a good QB). So in terms of situation, I think Cooks' is better for now. I'd also argue the part about Sammy's value only rising. If he struggles in KC, even his supporters will start losing faith.BigBawseRoss wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 10:37 am previously i would have said cooks but now i like sammy more. i think he has more potential in KC than cooks does in LA. going forward i have sammy over cooks. i personally think cooks value will fall while sammys can only rise.

I do agree that If sammy flops then i'm done with him, he needs to be a top 20 wr at minimum this year for meGoddard wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 11:07 amI'd actually argue that Sammy has more/better competition for targets with Hill and Kelce, than Cooks does with Kupp and Woods. This was a lot closer than I expected. What has Watkins done to warrant a similar price? He is constantly hurt and had 2 teams bail on him.

This is the 5th year for both. All Cooks does is put out 1000 yard seasons, while Watkins keeps the medical staff in jobs.

Re: Cooks vs watkins poll
The following variables come into play for having me give Cooks the edge in this debate:
1. Consistent Production: Cooks has three 1K yard seasons to his name and is not yet 25. Sammy has two strong years, but it has been two years since we've seen anything of worth.
2. Durability: Cooks has not missed a game the past 3 seasons. Sammy has missed 12. I don't predict injuries, but Cooks durability gets a slight edge just because he's consistently out there.
3. Offensive Production: This is linked to McVay and an offense that was top of the league last year. I don't expect a downtick this year, and there likely is upside for growth given how much youth was involved. How it all shakes out is TBD, but it will provide plenty of opportunities. I certainly see the upside in KC as well, though i think there is more projection that they can take the step to reach Rams territory given they haven't done it, and the unknown of going from Smith to Mahomes. It could take a year.
4. Other Talent & Pecking Order: Gurley and Hunt will get their's, though Gurley likely will get more. That said, Kelce/Hill > Woods/Kupp. I can easily see Watkins being the third most talented guy in that trio, while I struggle to see Cooks as anything but the #1 talent in his. Roles will certainly play a factor, but if i was a coordinator I would much prefer to be getting the ball to Kelce/Hill than i would Woods or Kupp.
I'm more than willing to admit that Watkins could have the better season or seasons, but the above are the reasons that I value Cooks higher looking forward. I have always been a Cooks fan though, even before he was drafted, as he was simply an outstanding prospect and continues to be an outstanding player. Watkins is very talented as well, but there is more risk that he doesn't produce to what people would require to justify the cost, and an even larger risk that the bottom could fall out if year 5 doesn't provide output to support it.
