Nicks MJD trade Help please!

Postby fins4ever » Sat Oct 09, 2010 1:28 am

Hey Guys

12 team PPR. I need a WR1 going forward. I have no idea if and when V Jax will play again and for who. I love Nicks potential at NY and who has already overtaken Smith as the WR1 in NY. I'm not adverse to trading MJD for the right value.

My squad:

Cutler, Sanchez
MJD, Benson, R Bush, BJE, Torain, A Dixon, J Starks
Smith (Car) V Jax, Jacoby Jones, James Jones, L Murphy, Garcon, RE Williams, T Price
Moeaki, Z Miller

I've been offered Nicks and a high-mid 2nd round pick for MJD and Garcon which is not a fair deal imo. Assuming you agree Nicks is worth picking up, what would you guys counter?

His squad;
Vick,Flacco
Blount, K Huggins, A Foster,R Jennings, J Snelling, J Stewart
Bowe, D Butler, Gettis, Harvin, Maclin, Nicks, Tate, B White, S Williams
Gresham

Something involving Bowe/Harvin as well as Nicks? :?

Well, to me, you'd need a #1 RB if you do that deal. I know MJD hasn't been, well, MJD this year. He is still a top 3 or 4 dynasty RB. As much as I love Nicks, that is nowhere near the value you should be getting for trading MJD. (I traded him last year for AP) MJD is someone you can build around. IMO, if you are trading him, you would have the right to ask for A Foster or J-Stew and Nicks. You might have to add a little back (Garcon?)

As far as V-Jax goes, that situation could straighten itself out in the next couple of weeks if he is traded. If not, then he will be playing the last 3 games of the fantasy season and Playoffs. You might as well wait it out at this point.

Dont give MJD away unless your getting a good rb and wr in rreturn. Nicks would be nice but you can get a better WR and a rb for him. Dont take that crap!

I would counter by adding J.Stewart to the deal.
Then if he doesn't want to give up his second, take like a 3rd or 4th.
Or take his 2nd but give up your 3rd or 4th.
10 team Dynasty league NON PPR NON IDP, Standard Scoring, 28 man roster
QB 2RB 3WR TE K Def
Josh Freeman, Andy Dalton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Ryan Mallet

Maclin, Dez Bryant, M.Williams(TB), T.Young, B. LaFell, Vincent Brown, Leonard Hankerson, Michael Flyod, R.Randle
Fred Davis, Kyle Rudolph
Tynes, Bailey

10 team 1QB 2RB 3WR/TE 1K 1Def, Standard Scoring NON PPR, ( TE's count as WR's)

How highly do you guys rate Nicks?

Top 20? or higher?

I was never going to do that deal and was considering asking for Stewart in return as well. Trouble is he's done nothing this season, probably because of the time share and teams being able to load up against the pass.

So much as I like Nicks and his potential, will probably pass unless he's gonna give up a 1st as well.

Or more likely that he was hurt over the bulk of the off-season and Carolina has no need to rush back their RB of the future when they have other very capable ones on the roster.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

This is the offer on the table:

I give MJD, and Garcon
I get Nicks, Stewart, a 2nd and a 4th

I'm 0-4 and am not going to get in the playoffs this season. the deal's tempting as Stewart should in a perfect world be the no.1 RB in a season or 2's time in Carolina Nicks is the WR1 in NYG and the 2nd would be useful. Giving Garcon hurts but would still next season give me a starting trio (hopefully) of Nicks, V Jax and then one of Smith,Murphy, or the Jones boys.

What do you think?

Not sure how trading Garcon hurts - his is at best the #4 option on his team...

there are a lot of people who went hard after Garcon this year....I never really bought into so I can't really see where they are coming from.

I think you got a good deal. I have Nicks in the top 10 allready and Stewart is still top 10 despite starting more than slow. He run rushed for 10 TD´s twice and had one 1000+ yard rushing season while splitting carries with DeAngelo.
