Who to target?

Postby Steelersfan » Sat Aug 21, 2010 2:01 pm

Here’s an update of the players being kept and the draft order (snake) in my local keeper league:

1.01 - Brady, MJD, Greene, Bowe
1.02 - Rodgers, Dwill, DeSean, Harvin
1.03 - R. Rice, Brown, Calvin, Boldin
1.04 - Peterson, Moreno, Andre, Colston (me)
1.05 - P. Manning, Forte, McCoy, Wayne
1.06 - Charles, Stewart, Turner, White
1.07 - Brees, Mendy, Nicks, Clark
1.08 - Romo, Grant, Jennings, Gates
1.09 - Sjax, Gore, PT, Fitz
1.10 - CJ, Moss, Marshall, Austin

Who would you target with my 1.04?

PPR, 6 points for all TD’s, probably keeping 5 players for next year instead of 4 players

Thanks!

Schaub, Rivers
Wayne, Crabtree
Benson, Mathews

Just some initial thoughts off the top of my head.

Chances are three QBs go before your second round pick, but you may still be able to get Flacco there. So I wouldn't go QB.

I'd almost treat the first round as a rookie draft and consider Mathews or Spiller as top options.

I forgot to add that we start the following:

QB: 1
RB: 2
WR: 2
TE: 1
RB/WR/TE: 2

Enough info now Skip...

Sorry, but there are leagues out there who don't play with a flex option (I am in one). With these requirements, you need to be targeting RB or WR. Since this is a keeper league, Mathews is likely the best RB available for production in 2010 so he should be on the short list. After that, one of the WRs. I haven't played with a 1 year mindset in a few seasons, but I'd be looking at either Crabtree or Smith (nyg) as the WR to add. I like Smith (car) but his reception numbers keep falling and his TD totals just aren't there. I'd expect your selection to be a lot easier once it gets to you.

Scratch Rice off the list with todays developments. I would target Mathews 1st with Crabtree 2nd and Smith (NYG) 3rd.
QB - A Rodgers, M Ryan, B Roethlisberger
RB - A Peterson, R Rice, C Johnson, J Charles, D Mcfadden, J Stewart, M Bush, R Williams, D Carter
WR - L Fitzgerald, R White, Megatron, K Britt, J Maclin, E Sanders, A Brown, A.J. Green
TE - J Finley, J Graham, J Cook
K - N Keading
Ds - Lions, Vikings

I would love for Mathews to fall to me at the 1.04 but the 1.02 owner has already stated that he will take Mathews if he doesn't go 1st.
