Need a ruling from all you commisioners!

I was having a conversation with a guy who im in 2 leagues with. He was talking about exploring the possibilities of a trade between both leagues.

Now i don't mean players moving between leagues... But one in which the OVERALL parts moving is viewed as equal, but the pieces moving in each league could be viewed as an unfair trade.

Now im all for thinking outside the box, but is this unethical/Collusion/etc.

Example:

Player A is dealing from a position of strength, Player B is Weak (League 1), Player A is weak in this league 2 and Player B is dealing from a position of strength.

The trade benefits player B in league 1, but player A in league 2.


Also mods just realizing this might be better suited to league discussion... Feel free to move if you like

Well it's a cool concept, this can only be allowed if it's all the same owners in both leagues, otherwise it leaves some owners at a disadvantage as they can't trade in both leagues.

I read something a while ago about 12 guys having 4 different fantasy leagues: football, baseball, hockey, basketball all together. They could trade between the leagues as they saw for, not sure how it turns out but it's a cool concept.

Yeah, only works if all owners in both leagues are the same, and understand they can do this. Otherwise would fall under collusion.

No shut it down in both and scrutinise any trade in either league involving the two.

Don't allow this to happen. Commissioner needs to assign a 3rd party investigation of any collusion. When the 90 page report emerges 5 months from now, remove 2016 1sts from both teams in both leagues and suspend both owners from making deals this year.

Each league should be 100% in isolation of any other. This opens the floodgates to all sorts of shoddiness. No way I would allow this.

That said, not knowing the deals themselves it is tough to say how far apart they are in isolation. However, knowing the concept I would immediately look to address it to avoid anything further.

I agree with above posters. You are talking about 2 separate leagues and transactions in one league should have nothing to do with transactions in another league. This is absolutely collusion.

In fairness to him... He did come to me as commissioner first and ask what my thoughts on the subject were...

He has always been a very solid asset to the league (quick to respond to trades, and good to deal with) and just wanted to make sure before he explored those avenues.

For content the trade he was looking at was...

League 1
Team A gets: Watkins, Ingram, 1.08
Team B gets: Moncrief, 1.02

League 2
Team B gets: Alshon, Mckinnon
Team A gets: D. Murray

So overall it would be

Team A gets: Watkins, Ingram, 1.08, D. Murray
Team B gets: Alshon, Moncrief, Mckinnon, 1.02

He gets an A for creativity, but a D for ethics. I've actually thought of this scheme myself before, but after I considered it I realized it's just too shady. Shut it down.

I say that if it's the same 12 owners in both leagues, no problem. If there are any folks in one but not both, then no way.

I would agree. The only way that it is even in the question is if everyone is in both leagues, and even then it should come to a league vote to put it in the by-laws. But in no circumstances other than that should this ever be allowed.
