Fantasy football before 'fantasy football'

Postby jason401 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:27 pm

Was just talking to an old childhood friend and remembered we used to play our own version of fantasy football way back in the 80's.

I got a football history book for Christmas one year that had tons of stats in it. We would draft our teams, there were 4 of us. Any player from that book was eligible to be drafted. We then used a dice roll system we came up with to determine which year and game we would use the stats from for that particular player. We'd add them all up and determine the winner. We did it rotisserie style, 4 points for leading rusher, 3 for second, etc. We could knock out a whole season in a few hours, usually on a rainy day or while watching football.

Anyone else ever do anything like this? Was pretty way back then.
