Drafting now - Use the 1.03 or ??

Our draft should start early tomorrow after an orphan finally got sold today.

I have the 1.03 after finishing 10th last season but with our league using possible points for pick order, I actually missed out on the #1 by scoring 28 excessive points out of about 2100. Ouch!

Assuming his legal issues don't get in the way, Kamara and Jones are my starting RB's and had planned on Akers as #3, but recent posts here including one of my own have shed some doubt on Akers ability to produce worthy of a former 1st round pick and moving him might be a better option. After Akers I have absolutely nothing as JPatt, D'Ernest, and maybe Vaughn are already possible required late August cuts to meet our roster limit.

I have Lockett and Claypool plus Lazard, Collins and free agents Fuller and Beasley for WR's so the need is pretty strong there. I picked up Reagor for a cheap BB late last year hoping for a trade or resurrection of some kind but he may be gone as well. The 1.03/2.03 should offer some quality help for this team which was 10-3 in 2020 and won the regular season before slipping in the playoffs.

To start, should I stay put with the 1.03 and draft the #1WR on the board, take Walker if he falls to me, or hold off when I'm OTC and see what offers come in to move back a few spots?

Or do I take a shot and accept the experienced opinions on the forum and maybe try to trade Akers plus the 1.03 and get the 1.01? Both teams in front of me have maybe two good RB's each and again a couple of decent WR's but neither is 100% desperate at either position.

I think your build needs help at RB and WR, so moving back for the right offer makes sense to me. Maybe that way you can grab multiple WR's. I would not force a deal though and would go BPA with your pick/picks. I am very low on Akers, so I would shop him and see if you can find a good option there too. Maybe a WR and a pick from the right manager? I think the value of Akers + the 1.03 for the 1.01 is there but based on your build, I think using the 1.03 and moving Akers separately could be more helpful.

Your RB's will live, but you're not winning no games with that WR corps. If walker falls to you, find someone that needs a rb to trade back with for a late first and a wr. if he doesnt fall, just take london, or move back for more picks. team needs some help all around really.

London has gone at #3 (after Hall/Walker) in two of my completed drafts and Wilson in the other. One of the two in front of me could surprise by taking London a bit early but based on what I've seen so far I think it's unlikely. I agree that trading back and maybe getting another good WR plus a pick would be nice.

Draft finally started a day late and I'm on deck with the 1.03 and Hall already going first. Expect Walker to be next leaving me with London or ?? or again trading back for more ammo. Let's see how it goes.

yep, trade back if you can. That way you can get a top WR and a stab at a RB a little further back.

As others have said moving out of 1.03 for multiple picks is my advice. picks 1.3-1.07 are essentially the same to me and personal preference.

London just went at #2.

Had one inquiry about 5 minutes ago about what I wanted to trade back and if Jones or Kamara were available. Might see if he has an interest in Akers but he has the 1.04 and then 2 picks in the mid-late 2nd so there has to be a player there somewhere. Or he offers to start his 2.07/2.09 to move up one spot.

He has Najee, Henry, Mitchell, and Edmonds as his RB's but only Godwin, Metcalf, and Kirk for decent WR's. I would think he needs the WR help more if he's looking at Williams or Wilson there but may not want to give up a lot to move one spot. Or thinking I go with Walker adding an extra RB making Kamara or Jones available? Could use some "Karnak the Magnificent" help here from the room (and yes I'm that old....).

This is an interesting situation, given that he’s only spot away from you. I feel like given this situation you shouldn’t really be worried about him taking someone from you- I’d be happy with Wilson/Walker/burks. Maybe you can leverage him into believing you’re fielding many offers and get the best value possible to go down one spot? I think what you mentioned (2.07/2.09) would be great return to move down just one spot. That’s my advice…

I've told him I'm looking at another offer. Tried making a bit a nice small chat about where he lives in one e-mail and now he's getting a bit impatient with me. Unfortunately it is the only offer so far but I am only barely an hour into my draft window. I did think about his 2.07/2.09 picks. I mentioned Akers but he didn't nibble. Thx. Anyone else out there??

While I was typing, I did get another offer but it's the same that I turned down about 10 days ago.

His 1.08 plus Rondale Moore/Bryan Edwards for my 1.03.

He's looking at Walker with only Javonte and Michael Carter for RB's plus Chase, Waddle, DJ Moore, Elijah Moore, and Higgins for WR's.

Crickets so far from Mr. 2.07/2.09. I told him I would like a couple of picks or a player/pick combo and have heard nothing. He probably feels it's a bit much to move up one spot.

I'm turning down the 1.08 plus Rondale offer again since I think he's worth in the 2.09 area.

Other than starting a fresh topic, with this team needing all kinds of help (everywhere but especially at WR). Now it come down to picking Walker or the Williams/Wilson best WR choice. If Walker had gone with the 1.02, London might have been an easier choice.

Different sites have Walker and Williams about even. I have the 2.03/3.03/4.03 to try to pick up some WR help.

I know it's a lot of update posts on my part and not a lot of responses so apologies for that.

The team with the 1.05 doesn't seem interested in moving his 2.07/2.09 but has mentioned his 2023 1st plus one of his players. Don't think he's think Edmonds or Mitchell for RB or Kirk as a WR but everyone after that is kinda bad. With my 1st and his 1.05, he stands the shot of improving on his 5-9 from 2021 which may make his 2023 1st mid round at best. I honestly don't feel he's willing to move a decent player and I can't see trading the known 1.03 for an unknown 2023 1st unless I knew he was going to suck big time this season.

Looks like it's between Walker or Jameson, who I have drafted previously, but feel RB's are usually more valuable but with a shorter shelf life. Forgetting my needs, who's the BPA there??
