Eli Mitchell

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Eli Mitchell

Postby OhSnapItsAnt » Sun Oct 31, 2021 11:52 pm

Just curious to see what everyone’s take on Eli is?
I think to most he is or was a sell high. He looks really good to me and I don’t see any reason he’d just lose his job.. is he worth a second or a first?
I want to hold him but worried I’m going to regret not selling later.. thank you!

I'd buy him for at a 2nd and sell for a first

I would buy for a late 1st and it would take at least a mid-to-early 1st for me to sell at this point. It's his job the rest of the year barring injury and I think he keeps it next year as well. Sermon was going in the late 1st on the hopes he would be in the position that Mitchell is now actually in so there is no reason Mitchell shouldn't go for more than that late 1st at this point. I think there is a very real possibility this offseason we are seeing questions about trades of the 1.1 for mitchell or 2 to 3 mid 1sts for Mitchell. Of course there is also the possibility of injury or Wilson taking the starter job when healthy and Mitchell being worthless in the offseason so it's up to your level of risk.

I still worry about him long term and what San Francisco does at RB but he is on a nice run and looks safe for this season. Sell for a mid 1st and buy for a 2nd if possible as a contender.

I believe Mitchell is their guy. Let's hope he continues to produce and stay healthy. I have a couple shares of Mitchell and will hold.

Hasty, Wilson, Moestart are all unrestricted free agents next season.

Traded him in two 12 Team PPR SF leagues away. In the one league i got a 23 1st and in the other i got a 22 1st for him, but i have to say that the other guys were 49er fans, so i dont know how valuable these information are

I would keep him. None of the options that the 49ers have are inspiring. As mentioned above, a lot of the other RBs are free agents at the end of the year and on the evidence so far, they don't like Sermon at all. Strangely for a Shanahan backfield, this feels like a clear case of one guy being a bit of a workhorse. I would only sell for a top 6 pick, however with your RB options, there is a possibility that he is your best RB with Herbert cutting into Montgomery's snaps when he returns and with Sanders, trying to predict the Eagles backfield is a headache and very unpredictable.

I'm buying. Just sold Terrace Marshall for him and Nico Collins. Think he's a high end RB2 rest of the way, plus they have had their bye already. I don't see a reason why SF would look to change what's working.. They spent two draft picks on RBs this past draft, I don't see them investing early in an RB for at least one draft.

You have to look at it like what you might get in this coming year’s draft for a low / mid / high second /late 1st…

Eli > that

Plus you have him this year, and he is not an unknown like a rookie has to go thru

I like him, but he's not catching any passes. He's capped in terms of ceiling. I would not pay a first. Bad process. I think if you can get a first, you cash out, but hold over trading for a 2nd.

Everyone was paying mid 1sts this year for Sermon based mostly on the fact that he could gain some larger share of the Niners’ backfield. I don’t think we all thought he would be some kind of primary pass catcher. That backfield offers more points to the ground guy-case in point Hasty not doing much.
