WOW...didn't see that coming. I figured they'd really draft a CB or OT.

Re: Leshoure to Lions
I could see him being similar-ish to Ingram in this regard. Leshoure will get the earlier down and goal line work while Best takes 3rd down and change of pace. Lions are establishing a decent offense to support a good running game. Worried how much they will see the ground though, since their secondary is still a wreck.

Re: Leshoure to Lions
This move angers me as a Best owner. But, it was decent value for Leshoure from an NFL team stand point.
But, why couldn't New England have taken Leshoure instead of Vereen?!

Re: Leshoure to Lions
Same reason they skipped over Prince Amukamura, not draft a DL or LB. To screw with us!!! I hate this pick as I was counting on Best to contribute as 3rd RB. Best case scenario is what Jstew and Dwills accomplished or one of them gets traded.kris_kapsner wrote:This move angers me as a Best owner. It's close to becoming 125,000 + 1.
Stupid Lions. And just when I was starting to talk myself into becoming a Lions fan if the Vikings move to LA...

Re: Leshoure to Lions
Not too surprising. Best is the better RB. But, LeShoure will eat into his carries. Instead of Best getting 225 carries along with perhaps 50 catches next year, I would expect that number to drop to 175 carries with the same receiving numbers.cleanwillyb wrote:Jim Schwartz just said that it would be LeShoure who is the change of pace back, not Best.Kaz wrote:... Smart not to buy coach-speak, man. It's far to early to rely on knee-jerk reactions and post-draft quotes to form a depth-chart or define roles for players. LeShoure will destroy Best's TD numbers at minimum and I expect Best to be used a la Reggie Bush with the Saints. Best could get enough catches to have solid but not great value but his reliance on big-plays to get TDs is hard to count on. Overall, that offense is going to be sick if they protect Stafford. Did they draft any offensive linemen?melish1631 wrote:That's what I thought and was hoping for...Rotoworld stated that Leshoure, not Best, will be the change of pace back. Re: Leshoure to Lions
Not until the 7th round. As a Calvin and Best owner I was very disappointed in that decision. I felt that trading up to get Leshoure, though worth his draft spot, was a luxury pick that was unnecessary. There are a lot of free agent RBs or RBs later in the draft that would have provided nice depth behind Best. Drafting an offensive lineman or two in the first 4 rounds would have gone a long way to helping the production of 1st round pick investments like Calvin, Best and most importantly, Matthew Stafford. That would have helped their offense far more in my opinion. But hey, I'm not on their pay roll.Misfit74 wrote:Smart not to buy coach-speak, man. Re: Leshoure to Lions
O.K. So I'm optimistic for once. The Detroit Lions no longer stink, they rock! I imagine Matt Forte and Adrian Peterson are going to have some really tough outings going up against Suh and Fairley. No Secondary? How about a pass rush that makes the opponent deliver the ball more quickly and Delmas is still a top DB in coverage. This draft by the Lions puts them in New York Giant territory if you want my take. They seriously need OL help, but with a defense like this, they're definately BETTER! Think Vikings/Giants defense all you nay sayers, and think Leshoure = Jacobs while Best = Bradshaw. Calvin can still put up numbers like Nicks if the Lions fix that O-line!
