Any Trade Down Experts Out There?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Any Trade Down Experts Out There?

Postby Claudio » Mon Aug 21, 2017 9:42 am

Team 1 in signature

I traded away my 2nd round pick last year for Larry Fitzgerald and Julian Edleman so I am entertaining the possibility of a trade down. My picks in the first 4 rounds are the 1.11, 3.11 and 4.11

There is one particular owner who owns multiple 2nd rounders. His picks in the first 4 rounds are the 2.3, 2.11, 3.3 and 4.3

What should the 1.11 net me to this owner? Should I even be considering this or simply make the pick?

Take note that it's an IDP league.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to shed some light on this.

I think you are too concerned with not having a second rounder. You should just make the pick unless you can get a package like 2.03 and 2.11 for 1.11 and 4.11 or 3.11. It really depends on who is there at 1.11. I'd wait until your pick to decide.

Wait til you're OTC to see who's on the board. Also, props for getting both Fitz and Edelman for only a late 2nd rounder.

Not that it changes anything but I gave up Christine Micheal also. lol I will definitely wait until I am on the clock, but I like to prepare the other owners in advance of any potential scenarios. Knowing beforehand if he would even consider it would help speed things up.

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated .

Being IDP does not really change anything for the 1.11 since defensive players tend to start going off the board by the end of the second round. If anything, it raises the value of 3rd rounders and beyond. My intention definitely is to wait until I am on the clock before pulling the trigger but I would like to know which picks should I expect back in return.

Thanks for your response.

I would not clasify myself as being "too concerned" about not having a 2nd round pick. I'm simply entertaining the idea of trading down to improve my later picks. I would not accept anything less than the 2.3 in return but I'm just wondering what the other owner should add to move up 4 spots. 2.3 and 2.11 for the 1.11 and 4.11 or 3.11 was what I was thinking in the first place. I'm just not sure he would do it for the 4.11 and I'm not sure I should do it if I gave up the 3.11.

Thanks for your input my friend. Greatly appreciated.

No problem, in my IDP Barnett, Foster, Davis all went before 1.6 where I got Davis, you never know but my league is pretty weird in drafting for need. I'd offer 1.11 and 3.11 for 2.3 and 2.11 and see what happens?

I had to re-read your post a few times to make sure I read that correctly. That's insane dude! That means the 1.7 or 1.8 could have had a shot at Davis, Cook or McCaffrey? Wow!!! lol

Mike Williams has been falling a lot lately. Wait and see if he's there for your pick before trading down.

In terms of value before the draft, sure, it seems fair. But hard to say without knowing who will be available.
