This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rate My Rookie Draft

Postby WhatWouldDitkaDo » Tue Aug 15, 2017 10:55 am

I'm pretty happy with this year's draft for team in sig (my picks in bold). Thoughts?

1.01 Corey Davis
1.02 Leonard Fournette
1.03 Christian McCaffrey
1.04 Joe Mixon
1.05 Dalvin Cook
1.06 John Ross
1.07 Mike Williams
1.08 Kareem Hunt
1.09 D'Onta Foreman (I traded Donte Moncrief for the 1.09 to get Foreman. It was a bit of a reach, but I'm a big fan of Foreman, and RBs go quickly in this league.)
1.10 O.J. Howard
1.11 Alvin Kamara
1.12 JuJu Smith-Schuster
2.01 Marshawn Lynch
2.02 Samaje Perine (I was planning on taking Lynch here, but the 2.01 owner sniped me)
2.03 Zay Jones
2.04 David Njoku
2.05 Chris Godwin
2.06 Joe Williams
2.07 Evan Engram
2.08 James Conner
2.09 Mitch Trubisky
2.10 Jamaal Williams
2.11 Deshaun Watson (I traded down from 2.11 for the 3.05 and a 2018 3rd since I didn't love anyone here)
2.12 Marlon Mack
3.01 Jack Doyle (I thought about Golladay here, but I wanted a more reliable TE2 behind Kelce just in case)
3.02 Patrick Mahomes
3.03 Kenny Golladay (I traded 3.05 + Dion Lewis + Vance McDonald to snag Golladay. They were likely going to be roster cuts anyway.)
3.04 Curtis Samuel
3.05 Adam Shaheen
3.06 Taywan Taylor
3.07 ArDarius Stewart
3.08 Carlos Henderson
3.09 Jaron Brown
3.10 DeShone Kizer
3.11 Gerald Everett

Foreman was a reach. Would've gone Howard there. Perine was about right. Golladay at 3.03 is nice.

Kamara > foreman

But overall good job. Taywan Taylor and cooper Kupp still floating around? I'd trade to grab one.

They are available, but I don't really have any roster room for them since it's only 23-man rosters. There's usually a fair amount of rookies with 3rd or 4th round ADPs that will make it to waivers.

And I thought I was low on Moncrief. You're definitely loaded at WR, but I feel you could've gotten more value than the 9th pick for Moncrief. 1.09 for Foreman seems like a reach with some of the other players still on the board, but I like the value you got with each of your other 3 picks.

I like trading Moncrief for the 1.09, but I probably would have taken Howard with that pick. Perine seems like fair value there (be glad you were sniped and Lynch went ahead). I think if you had taken Golladay at 3.01, you still would have been able to get Doyle at 3.03 and wouldn't have had to make that trade. It's not that big of a deal though because you didn't give up anything of great value.

Like the Golladay pick in the third, but I would've preferred Samuel + Golladay opposed to Doyle. If Foreman's your guy I wouldn't worry about draft position, I like him more in non-PPR. In PPR I think Kamara is clearly ahead of him.

For starters I would've easily taken Howard and Engram (!) over Foreman.

Would've DEFINETLY taken Engram, Jamaal and Zay over Perine

excellent value on perine. completely shocked to see john ross in the first, let alone 1.06. love foreman as well, dont blame you for getting your guy. moncrief to me is one of those dudes who will always have had so much potential but never excels. surprised to see so many qbs that early, i play in a high scoring qb league (1 pt per 10 yards and 6 pt tds) and they didnt go till late 3rd/4th/5th rounds. i would've prob just taken golladay over doyle, tes are just so worthless other than the top few in comparison to receivers. doyle is very meh.

sorry for the rambling train of thoughts, its like 330 am haha
