Trading for Jamaal Charles?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for Jamaal Charles?

Postby Sgsolberg » Mon Jun 12, 2017 8:20 am

14 team league, 6 make playoffs- Current team is in my signature.

I feel like the team is pretty stacked overall but with more than a bit of injury risk baked in. I believe I'm in a position to make a run against the 3 other teams that are similarly stacked, but am thinking of trying to shore up my RB's a bit.

I have an offer in which would send me Jamaal Charles for Wayne Gallman, 10% of my waiver budget, and a 2019 2nd.
If I take the offer, I will only have my 1sts in 2018 and 2019 remaining.

Thoughts on this deal? I'm tempted because I believe it should help me land in the money for a year or two. I'm a bit concerned about the lack of draft picks preventing me from capturing enough RB help over the next 2 years.

Overpay for Charles. You should be more than fine with Gurley, Hyde, and Abdullah for now.

Most fans are accustomed to hearing a surgery was successful. Charles's surgery was most likely a failure. And it's probably due to a more advanced stage of osteoarthritis. It's unfortunate because he was a great player.

In a PPR he could possibly get close 800-1100 total yards if he's EXTREMELY lucky, that's not glass half-full that's overflowing.
10 Team PPR, 25 man roster(1st and 2nd year player PS option for $20), QB, 2 RB, 3WR, TE, FLEX (RB,WR,TE), K, DEF.

RB-Gurley, M. Gordon, Jeff Wilson, Tevin Coleman,T. Montgomery, John Kelly, Justin Davis
WR-K. Allen, T. Hill, Josh Gordon, Golladay, Fitzgerald, S. Watkins, J. Reynolds, Enunwa,
TE-Burton, Ebron, Walker
K-Gostkowski
Defense-Vikings, Jaguars, Ravens

I'm one of the biggest Charles fans ever, but I want nothing to do with him in fantasy. I probably wouldn't even give up a 4th at this point.

Piling on here, but that's way too much to give up for J-Char. I would enjoy nothing more that him putting up a stellar season for the Broncos, but he isn't even guaranteed to make the 53-man roster...

Yeah, I think I got carried away in trying to solidify the roster for this year... going a little crazy since I missed out on the rookie RB's I wanted.

Thanks for the input all.

So for Charles owners, are you just holding at this point or trying to sell for the anything at all? Of course, in a rebuild you would take what you can get.

Holding as right now he has little value. Now if by some chance he makes the roster and gets a decent amount of playing time, I think most RB needy contenders would take a chance on him, even if just on a hope he plays 75% as well as he used to. Otherwise, I'll ride him into the sunset if the alternative is taking a 3rd/4th rounder in my 16 team league.

I am not sold on Charles recovery, and with CJ Anderson already established in the offense, I would pass on that trade
