Kevin White + Benjamin for Jarvis Landry + Duke Johnson

I made this trade last year and there has been a debate about the fairness of it. I got White and Benjamin while on IR, he got Landry and Duke Johnson.

I also got his 2016 first rounder, he got my 2017 second rounder.

Since you did it while they were on IR, it seems fair-ish. Maybe he was in win-now mode, but then again Duke Johnson doesn't make much sense in that case. The first round pick on top of it puts it a little over the top in your favor, though you wouldn't have known it would be 1.04.

Honestly I don't have a problem with the trade given the timing. I think there's a plausible argument that Jarvis was worth a bit more than KB + White last season when both players were out and Jarvis was having a nice season. And as someone else said, this wasn't 1.04 at the time, it was a 2016 1st. Depending on when you made the trade it might not have been clear where it was going to end up. Random 2016 1st is a totally reasonable price for Duke + 2017 2nd, in my opinion. Either way I think it's a trade that looks much more lopsided looking back than it did at the time.

Context is everything here. As of today this trade is terribly lopsided to the White/Benjamin side. Judging this trade from the time it was made, I see no problems with it at all.

White/Benjamin were both on IR and contributing nothing to any owner trying to win, Landry was putting up PPR WR1 numbers, and Duke was at least showing flashes as a productive pass-catching back. Plus at the time nobody knew what exact pick the 1st was going to turn into. Yes it ended up being the 1.04, but I'm assuming that if an owner gave up 2 young WRs on IR and their future 1st, they were looking to buy productive players for a playoff run.

That was my thinking at the time. I was (amazingly) 0-8 at the time. I had the most points scored against me by about 150. I saw Zeke being the only guy "to die for" in the upcoming draft. I had Gurley and David Johnson, but I was light in the pants at WR for the future. Just DGB, Perriman, who I liked, but did not have that warm fuzzy about, so I went after my future core WR's and pulled it off. The Moncrief for Carlos Williams, then Antonio Andrews for Carlos Williams back to me. boom, WR situation improved.
