I don't know if it was the offense as a whole, but I didn't think dwyer played very good last night in the orange bowl. That 3 pt stance is brutal.
Any thoughts?

Re: Jonathan dwyer
he ONLY runs in the A gap on each side... and linebackers stuff it 85% of the time. he will be a much better back in a pro style offense.hot nikkels wrote:I don't know if it was the offense as a whole, but I didn't think dwyer played very good last night in the orange bowl. Re: Jonathan dwyer
I haven't watched the whole game yet, but he looked like a "less than willing blocker" on a number of plays. I thought he showed little effort and poor technique, particularly when he was trying to block a DE -- head down, didn't stick to his block, gave up pretty quickly and/or didn't try very hard in the first place. I'll reserve judgment on his running until I watch more of the game.hot nikkels wrote:I don't know if it was the offense as a whole, but I didn't think dwyer played very good last night in the orange bowl. Q -- "What kind of name is 'Poon' anyway?" A -- "Commanche Indian."
I think Dwyer should be fine, part of the problem is that GT has a very unconventional offense taken from Navy, and they might not have utilized Dwyer correctly. A good combine should vault Dwyer back to elite draft status.

Shhhhhh! Mathews should be a steal in drafts, but I'm sure the word will get out eventually though.kris_kapsner wrote:Don't rule out this guy either.Guppy CEO wrote:with the #2 pick next season, it appears my choice will be between best and dwyer. dwyer definitely failed to impress me

Most college running backs don't block very well.
Does he have good quickness, good speed, good vision, knows how to be patient and follow blockers, can run between the tackles, but still get around the edge quickly, breaks arm tackles, and in general does he have good instincts? These are the things I look for.
Blocking can be taught. These other attributes usually can't.

The word will get out soon. At first I hoped he'd fall to me at my #11 pick. But, I doubt that will happen.
