Demaryius Trade Advie

Postby Litesout13 » Wed Nov 25, 2015 9:59 am

First post alert!!

Thinking about making a trade. A lot goes into this so bare with me haha

Dynasty PPR with a salary cap. Salary cap is $55 mil. and salaries increase yearly depending on performance. I am at $52,583,332. Team is currently 4-7(3rd worst). Trying to trade pieces for picks and semi rebuild

I send: Demaryius Thomas and James White($6,850,000)
I get: Duke Johnson, Mike Wallace, two 2016 firsts($5,033,333)

This deal would save me $1.8 mil right off the bat. Plus I can cut Wallace at the end of the year if need be. Plus DT's salary will likely go up even more. This would also land me a decent young RB and allow me to have 3 first rounders next year.

My team:
QB- Matt Ryan, Alex Smith, Sam Bradford, Jimmy Garoppolo
RB- Carlos Hyde, CJ Spiller, Rashad Jennings, Matt Jones, David Johnson, James White, De'Anthony Thomas
WR- DT, Julio Jones, Julian Edelman, Kelvin Benjamin, Jamison Crowder, Cody Latimer, DeVante Parker, Kevin White, Nelson Agholor, Devin Smith, Ty Montgomery, Justin Hardy, Paul Richardson, DeAndre Smelter
TE- Travis Kelce, Ladarius Green, Maxx Williams

Trading DT could land me some good pieces to rebuild, get me bad enough for the #1 pick where I can retool with Treadwell perhaps. Thoughts?

Also have an offer on the table of Lynch+1st(likely mid to late) for DT. Not a huge fan of this but may get him to switch it to Foster. Thoughts on Foster+1st for DT?

Thanks all!

I don't have any experience in salary cap leagues (so bear that in mind). I think this looks like a good trade in your league format. James white is essentially a throw-in, so you're getting two firsts plus Duke and the cap space for D. Thomas: not too bad IMO.

It would maybe help to know when the firsts are. I can assume that one 1st is late because I'm guessing that you're trading with a contender. If the other was early then I'd feel better about it. Two late firsts or maybe even a mid and a late and I might balk at this.

Ya I should have mentioned that.

6 teams make the playoffs. 1 of them comes from a guy currently in 4th and would have to lose out and have others win out to miss the playoffs. The other guy is currently 6th(who im trading to) and it could go either way to be honest. But if they both lose in the 1st round the picks could end up being #7 and #8

I like that less for you. In a rebuild I'd rather take the shot on a first that might be a core member of your team than risk taking a guy who may never play again, or who at best will be productive maybe 2 more years (that's really optimistic). Plus I would bet Foster negates some of the cap space you're freeing up.

Shockingly enough, his cap is really low. His owner from last year cut him prior to the draft to get under the cap. So his cap hit is $1.5mil compared to roughly $6.3 mil that DT is

I'd take that for DT.

Also which Foster are you talking about, the Foster that tore his Achilles and will probably never play football again? The dude is always hurt and this my be the last straw

That makes it closer, but I'd still prefer the first. I don't trust that he'll ever be productive again. The fact that both 1sts are likely late concern me too. Thanks!

And my thinking is DT's salary will be too high in the next year or two for me to either hold on to or even trade. So why not get what I can now? The upside of Foster for a cheap price is intriguing to me
