Jordy Nelson or James Jones?
Jordy Nelson or James Jones?
Just wondering who would be the better pick to be the No. 3 guy behind jennings and driver. J. Nelson looked good last year and is the bigger guy as an endzone threat. Anyone know if this season either or is taking more reps with the 1st team or has a better shot at starting? Thanks...Appreciate the advice
Nelson was just discussed a few days ago:

And I still like Jones more.

If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.
Jordy Nelson -- he is an excellent fit for their scheme when Driver leaves. Top-50 dynasty WR that will replace Driver or at least spell him this season
James Jones -- Personally, I've never been a fan. Maybe top-75?? 4th on the depth chart, coming off a torn PCL, and hasn't stayed healthy during his very short career thus far. No thanks. Sell while people still care.
In my opinion, it's not really a close discussion. James Jones will forever be relegated to hitches and short area routes as he has never (even in college) challenged a secondary in mid- to deep-routes. Jordy Nelson is like Kevin Walter, hard working and physical. He won't outrun you either, but he's the better talent.

I'm still with Skip on this one.
You gotta give Jones some credit, the fact that he came back and played without surgery after tearing his PCL in training camp tells you one thing... he's not a wuss. The TD that he caught when his helmet popped off was impressive ( it's on youtube if you missed it ), again showing he's not a wuss. A lot of WRs would have gone down after that collision. I've seen him make a bunch of tough catches over the middle, and I've seen him get behind people. He definitely doesn't have 4.4 speed... but this guy is worth hanging on to.
I remember watching the pre-season games in 2007 when him and Jacoby Jones were stealing the show... James Jones is no joke. He hit the rookie wall at the end of his rookie season... and that's pretty common. And he played in several games last year on a bum knee... including a 4 for 132 yds against Jacksonville.
I think Jones profiles more as a WR1 or WR2... and that's why I like his potential more than Nelson's.

Well... no. Jacoby hasn't done himself any favors.
But in a Jones vs Nelson discussion... Nelson hasn't done anything to impress me at all. They've both had limited opportunity so far... but I like what I've seen from Jones.

Thing is that Jones posted a much better rookie season the year before and then was hurt for a good part of last year. I think both have future roles in that offense as the #2 and #3 WRs. Nelson may end up being a better TD threat, but on receptions those numbers will probably tip toward Jones.lake3711 wrote:I like Jordy more but I think he and Jones are pretty even. I own Jordy, so I'm biased toward him. But last season, his numbers were decent with 366 yards and 2 TD, he's off to a solid start.

I think it's all about who takes over for Driver. And at this point, it's a toss up. But my money is on Jones over Nelson.dlf_stevea wrote: I think James Jones' ceiling for the next two to three years is 4TDs per season.

i need to bump this to see what people are thinking regarding these two. I think most people are leaning toward Nelson now after superbowl.
