What is the gap between Waddle and Kirk?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What is the gap between Waddle and Kirk?

Postby HerbUrban » Thu Oct 26, 2023 1:34 pm

I think Waddle is the better long term upside but Kirk is operating as a more productive and consistent WR1. Would Kirk and a 1st a fair ask?

Based on the market value and perception, yes I think a 1st on top is a fair ask.

Agree. I see a pretty big gap between them, but I haven't studied the numbers hard.

there is a gap for sure but the numbers lean on the side of Kirk now, I almost hold keep the first to build with. Kirk is tied to a good QB.

I have them on different teams. I wouldn't add a first to Kirk to get Waddle.

EDIT
People have a hard time accepting just how well Kirk is playing right now. In 2022 he was a fantasy WR1. Period.
So far this year, Kirk's ppg puts him the same vicinity as DKM/Pittman and above Olave/GWilson. Because Kirk has been doing this long enough to overcome the flash-in-the-pan label, I think the real way to resolve this trade dilemma is to consider the following question.
Would you add a 1st to Olave/GWilson/DKM/Pittman to acquire Waddle?
TEAM 1:
12 Team ppr w/20 keepers - start 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1FLX 6IDP 1DEF
QB: Tua, Lamar, CWilliams
RB: Etienne, Pacheco, JFord, Corum, JWright
WR: Lamb, JChase, Waddle, Pickens, Q Johnston, DeDouglas, MCorley
TE: Goedert, Okongwo

IDP:(LB) Bolton, DLloyd; (DE/DL) Sieler; (S/CB) Pitre, Bates
2023 & 2022 Champion: 2020 third place: 2019 Champion

TEAM 2:
14 Team 30roster SF/ppr/TEP - QB/RB/WR/TE/5FLX/SF
QB: Tua, CJStroud, Carr, AOC, MWhite, Lock
RB: Etienne, Stevenson, GusE, Singletary, AJD, CEH, Spiller
WR: Amon-Ra, Kirk, Dell, Thielen, Gallup, VJefferson, Ch Jones
TE: Andrews, Waller, Taysom, Smythe, WMallory, JOliver

I'm with those saying I wouldn't pay Kirk/1st for Waddle. However there may be someone in your league who would. And I'm fairly sure the Waddle owner can get more.

There are Waddle truthers out there in most leagues. As long as the threat of a Hill retirement looms, Waddle will be seen by some as having unlocked potential that is worth paying up for. (They might be right). I'd like to have a player providing better production than 13 PPG given the value that Waddle carries. I'm selling Waddle if I can get his full value.

id easily pay a first to go from kirk to waddle. kirk has a single 1k season on his resume. waddle been in the league 2 years and has 2 with a 100 catch season. miami is an elite offense and hes gonna be tied to tua for a long time. market value is just way higher too, you open yourself up to a lot more trade possibilities with waddle than you would have with kirk. theres no debate there

Kirk and a first is what I was thinking. Assuming the first is later I'd rather keep waddle. But if I'm competing and have an aging team I'd want Kirk and then move the first for another piece.

I love arbitrage tier-down trades but if you're getting Kirk I would need an early 1st on top.

I think everyone’s value on WRs is leaned to heavily towards name and age… Kirk Pittman Higgins waddle .etc are all essentially the same asset but ppl value them differently for names.. Take advantage and sell your waddles Higgins Smiths Pittman etc. for Kirk and a 1st Collin’s and a 1st DJM and a 1st.. Easiest deals in fantasy.. or of course be a slave to the market and Big Names
