Gave: Khalil Herbert
Got: Rashod Bateman

Offered this to the Chubb owner before MNF, and he took it after. Really hoping Bateman is just easing his way back into the offense and can put together a strong second half.

Starters: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, K, DST

QB: Lamar Jackson ($23), Mac Jones ($15), Jake Browning ($10), Jameis Winston ($10)
RB: Bijan Robinson ($36), Breece Hall ($29), Zack Moss ($19), Justice Hill ($11)

I just moved Herbert with Perine and 2nds to get Diggs. And today here on DLF there is an article about Roschon taking over sooner than later, which I KNOW is coming. So, good job.

nice value for a 1 year rental (at best)
Why is Ford a 1 year rental?

Chubb has no guaranteed money left on his deal and could take upwards of 12+ months to recover from this one - if not be out of the league entirely if it goes wrong.

Other guy just paid, what... a 5-ish spot move down in the draft to gamble on him? I love it for that guy.
5-ish spots at that place in the draft is a not a small amount, plus the round drop means the value on the 2nd is capped much lower (it's still too early in the year for pick projections to be reliable).

And he's a 1 year rental because even if Chubb doesn't come back the Browns should sign or draft over him. There's also a chance they sign Hunt or Fournette *this* season. There's no reason to assume that the Browns are just set with Ford as the lead back for the foreseeable future.

E: The Browns have signed Hunt. Remains to be seen what the workload distribution is, but Hunt is familiar with that offense so wouldn't be surprising to see all full blown RBBC this week.
Thanks for the discussion, everyone. I appreciate the reflections!

I had an offer of what I would guess would be a mid-2nd for Ford, as well. And there's a real possibility that the pick gap is only 2-4. But in a rebuild (team not in sig.), I think collecting 1st-round picks is essential. Mine will be top-3. In the crazy universe in which it ends up mid instead, then I'm getting much better value here. And in the world in which it ends up top-2, that's probably in small part *because* I traded away Ford: he's easily my RB1 at this point even with Hunt on the Cleveland roster.

I would have loved to keep my 2nd. No doubt it. But the bonuses of the team that got Ford still just being middle-of-the-pack (that's a realistic outcome for them!) and protecting my likelihood of getting a top-2 pick were worth it to instead of just collected a mid-2nd. Obviously, I could regret that. But I don't let potential regret make decisions for me.

Finally, I thought the peak Ford sell window was very small. Turns out that was accurate with Hunt already signed (again, I could end up wrong about that if Ford continues to produce). When presented with a great value opportunity in a rebuild, I'm willing to take it rather than hope for, say, 10% more yet risk losing it all.

Happy to more viewpoints (contrary ones, too!). Thanks again for the thoughts.

I have never played with devy - but what is the value impact on rookie 1st? I would expect it being equal to a 2nd rounder in non-devy. Or is the top picks still worth a ton and a steep decline?

12 Team SF

Gave: JSN, 2025 1st, 2024 3rd
Got: Davonta Smith, Kyren Williams.

Feel like this is a pretty decent trade both ways as competing/rebuilding.

I'd take the"got" side regardless of my situation unless that 1st ends up being very early. Nice trade to get the better WR who's already a stud and a starting RB basically for free.

Thank you thank you. Yea I agree but in fairness to the guy he is on a heavy rebuild so a bit more open to taking risks
