Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
What is a good compensation in draft picks in fantasy for Rodgers if he is traded to the NY Jets. I have the option of 1 rookie 2023 2nd round draft pick, pick 2.12 in a 12 team league or 2 rookie 2023 3rd round draft picks, pick 3.02 and 3.05 each by the same owner. Your thoughts are appreciated. My currebt 2023 draft piks owned are listed in my signature.

Re: Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
I don't understand how the Packers are "digging their heels in" on the compensation. They've openly stated they don't want him this year, and he's likely going to retire if they don't trade him, they don't really have much leverage.
Rumours are they want at least a first rounder, if not 2. I don't see how they can expect that at this point.

The Jets painted themselves into a corner. Neither of them have leverage.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:47 am I don't understand how the Packers are "digging their heels in" on the compensation. I mean, Lamar is still available. If you're going to pay multiple firsts, and a large cap hit for a QB, why not explore that option? They could put that rumour out there and see what the Packers do, even if they don't intend on signing Lamar.Lumps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:49 amThe Jets painted themselves into a corner. Re: Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
The Packers will need the cap space before the Jets need Rodgers to practice. This will probably carry on until early June (Pack probably want to do a post-June 1st trade for cap reasons anyways), but ultimately, they’re going to want the $15M way more than the Jets are going to want Rodgers at OTAs.Lumps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:49 amThe Jets painted themselves into a corner. From my understanding, the Packers have until week 1 to make a decision in regards to salary cap hit and paying Rodgers (within the article, it says they have until week 1);ericanadian wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:58 amThe Packers will need the cap space before the Jets need Rodgers to practice. Re: Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
The money is guaranteed. While the wording allows them some options in terms of when it will hit their cap, they don’t have an option to just opt out and not pay it. Trading Rodgers gives a cap hit of just over $15M. Cutting him will be a $43M hit. $30M is a lot of cap space to leave in limbo while trying to get a 2nd or 3rd instead of a 4th or 5th.remedy29 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 1:40 pmFrom my understanding, the Packers have until week 1 to make a decision in regards to salary cap hit and paying Rodgers (within the article, it says they have until week 1);ericanadian wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:58 amThe Packers will need the cap space before the Jets need Rodgers to practice. That doesn’t even factor in the potential issues Rodgers could create if he’s still on the team and feeling disgruntled when camp starts up.

Re: Aaron Rodgers to the Jets
Honestly, I think they might have had Lamar not been looking for a record breaking deal fully guaranteed, but then if he wasn't, he might already be signed in Baltimore. The Jets could at least fake interest, though, for the purposes of negotiations with the Packers.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 1:44 pmBut that would make too much senseFantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:53 amI mean, Lamar is still available.
