Zeke isn't going anywhere this year. He has had the most rushing yards in the league since 2016 at 7386 and has added another 2244 receiving. He will easily surpass 10,000 total yards very early this season.

He obviously isn't what he once was but he is durable and plays hurt. Zeke is actually tracking HOF type numbers.

Zeke has almost 2000 more total yards than Derrick Henry as an example in only 2 more games played.

CMC is the highest paid RB
Zeke and Kamara are tied for 2nd and 3rd.

The Cowboys will be able to get of that contract after this season with a dead cap of around 11 million and they should save around 5 million.

The contract was pricey but most of the top backs are over 12 million. Zeke has an extra year or two on his contract which makes it look like he is getting a lot more but they have an out next season and will almost certainly take advantage of it.
Great points all around. I was thinking the same things when reading a couple of these “posters” thoughts on Zeke. He actually was really good the first 5 weeks last season before he hurt his knee bad enough that he needed surgery and played through it the rest of the way.

Not really much of note:

Pooka Williams - Converted to receiver trying to make the team due to his small size. Dude was fun to watch, but probably too small to ever work as a back.
Laquon Treadwell - Was lighting up the preseason. Thought he might catch on, but too much receiving depth in Jacksonville I guess.
Dalton Keene - Was an interesting prospect, but flamed out pretty quickly.
Master Teague - Fun name and was an amazing recruit who just couldn’t stay healthy.
Kelvin Harmon - Never understood why, but he seemed like a thing at one point…
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)

QB - Stafford, Stroud, Tune
RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford
WR - Pittman, Olave, Di. Johnson, G. Wilson, J. Williams, Metchie, Robinson, M. Wilson
TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

Don't feel out of line saying this, Treadwell is a good backup receiver. He should catch on elsewhere. Finally gets it and isn't in his own head anymore.

The Pioneer Press's Chris Tomasson reports "at least 12 teams have called the Vikings to express interest in trading for backup running back Alexander Mattison."
Thomasson added, "a source said the Vikings probably would need to get a third- or fourth-round draft pick if they were to make a deal." It's a big ask for a backup running back, but Mattison has played well in his spot-starts. He averaged 87 rushing yards plus another 41 receiving yards in his four starts in 2021. Mattison's contract is up at the end of the year and the Vikings have made no efforts to extend him. They have also taken a running back in each of the previous two drafts. If a team gets desperate for a starting running back, Mattison should be high on their list of options. Given Minnesota's asking price, the most likely outcome is Mattison playing for the Vikings in 2022.

But yea...he could be a cut candidate. :wtf: 12 teams salivating at the idea of claiming him.

Not really a cut, but Shenault was just traded to the Panthers.

A 2021 piece about Mattison. "Mattison shouldn’t be more than a backup until he cleans up this bevy of issues." https://zonecoverage.com/2021/minnesota ... lvin-cook/

This piece from two weeks ago argues that Cook, Nwangwu and Chandler are all similar speed backs that Mattison isn't. They further argue that Mattison is a good complementary piece in a deep RB corps and shouldn't be traded. https://zonecoverage.com/2022/minnesota ... -mattison/

An article I linked earlier in this thread said changes in the run scheme (adding elements Mattison has never played in) could "affect" several players with "uncertain futures" like upcoming FA Mattison.

Former Vikings GM Rick Spielman speculates Mattison to the Eagles as a match. He said he would bring a good power complement to Gainwell. https://www.the33rdteam.com/front-offic ... ke-to-see/

This article from 2 months ago calls Mattison an "underrated" cut candidate. "Mattison is a solid running back, but his skill-set might not be what the Vikings‘ new coaching staff is looking for from the guys in their offensive backfield. When looking at all of the running backs on Minnesota’s current roster, Mattison kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. The majority of the Vikings’ current rushers offer a variety of speed and athleticism, while Mattison utilizes his power and strength out on the field more than anything else." https://thevikingage.com/2022/06/16/cut ... a-vikings/

This article from a few weeks ago highlights Mattison as a Vikings cut, using alot of the same phrasing like "sore thumb"- https://bleacherreport.com/articles/100 ... 022-season

K Drake to BAL, so I'm assuming M Davis cut. Possibly Justice Hill as well
