Ekeler Trade on Table

Postby CreativeName » Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:03 am

Discussing a deal for Ekeler. He's getting older but looking to make a run next season. Have current draft capitol and future draft capitol to get young next year. Would you take either of these deals or hold? The Ekeler owner stated Claypool and a Late 1st, then said or swap with Miles or Mattison. Team 1 in Signature.

Ok wow I misunderstood the question and my vote in the poll reflects that. I would absolutely buy ekeler for Claypool and mattison.

I'd much rather be selling Ekeler than buying at this point. But 1st 2 offers are cheap enough that I'd be very tempted. Especially Claypool/Mattison. That's basically a very late 1st plus an early/mid 2nd. I don't like the Sanders deal at all.

You think Sanders bounces back? Really struggled to get going in that offense. Even after then shifted away from Gainwell.

I'm not super high on Sanders though I am hopeful for 2022. But I only want to buy Ekeler, who will be 27 at start of season, at a significant discount. Claypool/Mattison feels like a significant discount.

If you are buying Ekeler, any of these deals are solid value but Claypool and Mattison are great value. Sanders does not look like a good asset to me but I would rather hold him and hope over Claypool and Mattison. If any of these offers are on the table, the value is great for you and I would make a deal quickly. If these are trade thoughts, I do not think any of these will be accepted.

On the table-ish. The owner proposed the Clay + 1st, then text he would also do Miles or Mattison. The only "ish" is this owner has a tendency to talk a deal at first then when finalized sit on it and not accept... Otherwise they are active proposals. Just need to make sure he submits the offer, so he can't sit after I send it.

That is always frustrating! I have been through that a few times myself. I would send the Claypool + Mattison deal and feel very good about that if accepted. Sanders has a better chance at work and production then Mattison.

I would shop Sanders too before the bottom falls out on him. Long term or in a rebuild, I would rather have Claypool and Mattison. I have never been big on Sanders. I liked Montgomery more and was happy to move back a spot in their rookie draft and gain a little something.

Now I know trade wise I would not give Sanders for Claypool, knowing I could get more than just Claypool. I just like Claypools prospects better. I can also see Mattison being more valuable next year, especially if Cook's shoulder fails him. Either in a trade to the Cook owner or as the possible successor to the Minny backfield, although I would not count on that unless they resign.

I agree that Claypool/Mattison is great value for Ekeler if you’ve got a team title-ready. Since OP is the Cook owner, I went with the Claypool/1.12 offer in a down class and seem to be the only one. I guess I’d rather hold the clear backup to my older (possibly injury prone) starter than take a shot at another member of this class after selecting three of the first eight rookies.

Not high on Sanders at all, but surprised that people are so low on him. Averaged 5.5 ypc this year and the only reason he didn't have a big season was because of lack of volume, which is a team issue not a MS issue, and the injuries, which are a MS issue but not to bad. If his price is anywhere near a late first/early second I think that is a snap buy, which obviously doesn't directly relate to the OP, but can add context to the Ekeler deal I think, because I wouldn't sell him as a throw in type piece that is for damn sure.
