Michael Mayer/Jalen Wydermyer time
But seriously no idea why he transferred to a school with the rep for developing offensive talent of Georgia

Re: Arik Gilbert listed as a WR
Perhaps he's just honing in his catching skills while saving his body from the beatings behind the line. This doesn't necessarily mean he won't be transitioned back to TE once he hits the NFL.

This. Some route running coaching won't hurt. Can't see him jeopardising a Day 1 draft capital/payday by declaring for the pro's as a WR.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 7:52 am Perhaps he's just honing in his catching skills while saving his body from the beatings behind the line. Re: Arik Gilbert listed as a WR
Doesn't Georgia have another freak TE from that recruiting class on their roster as well? Darnell Washington( I think that was the name)?
Gilbert is probably just looking a few years down the road and trying to get out in front of that pay difference between TE and WR in the league. It's a business move.

Re: Arik Gilbert listed as a WR
Great observation. To a lesser extent Brock Bowers is also vying for TE time that they want to run 12 personnel sets with. https://www.si.com/college/georgia/news ... -personnel Not that he's a future stud, but college wise he's solid. The WR spot looks fairly open behind Pickens. Once he's gone it's all Gilberts to himself. Still a downfall for future TE draft potential, but given his size he might not have an option of moving back to TE. Any way you look at this his skillset is getting a nice bump.ColdZealDonkeyStrike wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 10:56 am Doesn't Georgia have another freak TE from that recruiting class on their roster as well? Re: Arik Gilbert listed as a WR
The bolded may be true. A team can just announce him as a TE when they draft. But he might have a better case getting listed as a WR now. And really, he's only a few pounds bigger than Claypool (I though for sure he would get moved to TE).YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 11:49 am The WR spot looks fairly open behind Pickens. I also forgot Pickens was out this year with an ACL. So if Gilbert thinks he's a wr, he'll get some chances to prove it this year!
