D.Hopkins/J. Ajayi for M.Gordon/D.Freeman/D.Bryant?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

D.Hopkins/J. Ajayi for M.Gordon/D.Freeman/D.Bryant?

Postby cm56776 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 5:02 am

I'm new to dynasty and I'm struggling with evaluating players' value 'long-term' and would appreciate any input/advice.

I've been offered:

Melvin Gordon, Devonta Freeman and Dez Bryant for

Deandre Hopkins and Jay Ajayi

To give you some perspective my WR depth is:

D.Hopkins/A.Brown/A. Green/M. Crabtree/D. Parker/E. Sanders/J. Brown/T. Lockett (the remaining WRs are basically all cuttable)

For RB depth is:

J. Aajyi/L. Miller/A. Abdullah/T. Montgomery/I. Crowell/D. Marting (the remains RBs are basically all cuttable)

Let me know if you think this is a solid trade. I'm hesitant to move Nuk but I know my RB depth is thin.

Thanks!

Hopkins alone is worth way more, no way I do this deal. Not a fan of any of the players you would be receiving.

Hopkins is definitely worth more than this.

I don’t think Hopkins is worth way more than the entire other side, as some are saying. Nuk is anywhere from 1.01 to 1.06 in a startup, depending on who you ask. Gordon and Freeman are both top 12-20 players, depending on who you ask. Ajayi and Dez both have depressed value right now, but Ajayi is probably worth more.

I would still go with Hopkins/Ajayi. It’s not a bad starting offer. See what else the other owner is willing to add. You need help at RB for sure, but need to keep some WR youth too.

Edit: this thread provides some support to my argument. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=156371

Gordon and Freeman are also relatively young - 25 and 26 when the season begins, respectively - and will likely combine for more points than Hopkins/Ajayi while rounding out his roster, and will be around for the next handful of years. Dez seems like an old name-brand throw-in, but could be a serviceable WR2/3, Flex, or bye week/injury replacement.

I like this for deal for your team.
10-team Superflex, 0.5 PPR, 15-man rosters, pseudo-dynasty
Keep any number of players (0-15), lose same number of draft picks
2010, 2015, 2020 - 🏆, 2013 - 🥈

QB: Dak, Watson
RB: Swift, Robinson Jr, Singletary, Brown, Hubbard, Zeus, Herbert
WR: Wilson, Olave, Pickens, Aiyuk
TE: Pitts, LaPorta

Pass. Hopkins is the 2nd best player in all of dynasty. He's a hold and build around

I would look to move AJG for a lesser WR and an RB2 upgrade. That seems a better move with your team
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th

WR: Nabers, Tank Dell, Addison, Shaheed, Thomas Jr. McConkey, K Coleman, JSN, QJ, S Jameson Williams, Corley, Polk, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, Juwan, Musgrave, Theo Johnson
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2025 1,1,1,1,2,3,4,5
2026- 1,2,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex

Agree with this. I would pass but I like Gordon and Freeman and don’t think this is a terrible offer.

I agree that this is closer than some are making it, but I'd still keep Hopkins. Your depth at WR is ok, but would be below average if you lost Hopkins. I like Gordon and Freeman, but you should be able to get more.

Hopkins is a tier one player. Rule of thumb is, don't trade tier one players unless you're getting a tier one player in return, or you're getting so much value that you can't possibly turn it down. This isn't a terrible offer, but not one you should consider. Keep Hopkins until someone blows you away with an offer

I might do the deal given your strength at receiver but not for Dez. I would want a high 1st next year instead of Dez or I pass (projected). Next years draft is rich in WR talent - N'Keal Harry, Metcalf, etc. I like the upside of Gordon, Freeman is solid and Ajayi is in a rotation with a knee injury waiting to happen
