This is a bummer if true. I'm still planning on taking him at 1.06 in the one league I have it, but having the other Williams in that league makes the decision easier for me.

This along with his neck injury a couple years ago does not bode well for his future. Maybe not the P word (prone), but definitely getting there.

Yeah I would be surprised if these 2 injuries aren't related.
Latest I saw was sugery was an option 3-4 weeks ago but the Chargers felt he was improving....so maybe Schefter is reporting things that have already come and gone for the chargers.
I am sure it is going to be something the Chargers will monitor closely

Disagree. This definitely should and does hurt his value. Back injuries are no joke. I want no part of this guy. If I put him on the block in the 1 league I have him in there is no way I'm getting the equivalent of a mid first.

Can't decide which is worse:

Mike Will's broken back or Foreman's weed and guns?

This time of year is so not awesome!

How can you know that for sure? The news just broke a few hours ago. Unless you've spoken to everyone in your league and they said so, that's just an assumption. It may be true, but still not a fact. And I'm not disagreeing that it doesn't hurt his value, but I'm still not sure there are more than 6 rookies that I'd want ahead of him. The risk/reward would still be high, but wouldn't blame anyone for dropping him further down than that.

Why are some people so sure this will linger after surgery?

ETA- This article suggests most players can return without repeat issues after the surgery.

People don't want to get burned by a player who is a complete zero in their rookie year.

He was already dropping in rookie drafts before this news. GMS drafting late first now have a shot at him.

Latest roto blurb makes it sound like Schefter is reporting things come and gone. It will be interesting to monitor.

Latest blurb:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports first round WR Mike Williams (back) is not expected to need surgery.
The Chargers were considering surgery 3-4 weeks ago, but multiple sources tell RapSheet it's "not on the table" anymore. Williams has reportedly been improving since going down in late May. He's expected to open training camp on the active/PUP list.

Well, the injury in question happened after the draft. Seems pretty likely that it is related to the college neck injury though.

Ah. They haven't said what the injury is? Disc? Stress fracture? What region?

"Mild herniated disc in lower back" were Lynn's exact words after the injury, so maybe not related. Granted, they don't have any incentive to be forthcoming with injury information in June, so who knows how mild it really was.
