Overpay for David Johnson?

Postby BelichekYourSelf » Fri Mar 24, 2017 8:51 am

Team 2 in my sig.

RB is my only weakness. I plan on taking Mixon or Cook at 1.02 but that would still leave me a pretty thin.

I offered

Allen Robinson, 1.05 and DJax
for
David Johnson

Am I giving up too much? Not enough? Even?

The other owner's team

QB: Bortles, Roethlisberger, Stafford
RB: DJ, Bell, Abdullah, Prosise, J. Richard, D. Williams
WR: JMatt, White, Shepard, Fuller, M. Jones, Boyd
TE: Ertz, Brate, D. Allen
Draft Picks: 2.02, 4.01, 4.06
12 Team. Roster 22, 4 TS. PPR, TE Prem (1.75). Start 1 QB, 5 flex (2 RB Max), 1 Def, 1 K
QB P. Mahomes, J. Goff, B Zappe (TS)
RB S. Barkley, N. Chubb, R. Stevenson, T. Pollard, J. Cook, K. Herbert, A. Mattison, E. Mitchell
WR AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, C. Kupp, A. Cooper, D. Hopkins, DJ Moore, B. Aiyuk, R. Doubs, K. Boutte (TS), C. Tillman (TS), M. Wilson (TS)
TE M. Andrews
Def Patriots, Ravens

It's fair to say that DJax isn't moving the needle on most trades. He's a guy who disappointed early in his career by being too much of a boom/bust player and his value has always stayed lower than his production since that time. I'd think the offer would need to be the 1.2 rather than the 1.5 to stand a chance.

Talk about a misleading thread title!

Not close for DJ.

Lol gotta love recency bias. A year ago people would have said DJ+1.5 is too cheap for A Rob!

I think it's an overpay simply because A Rob's value is about as low as it will ever be right now. But, with your team, you can afford to overpay to lock down a stud RB.

I guess I value Arob more than most... The list of WRs who've had the type of season he did in 2015 in pretty short. And the 1.05 will probably end up being Williams.

I figured those 2 plus Djax woud greatly improve his WRs and might interest him.. I guess I'll see what he says and go from there. I'm probably not willing to pay much more than this though.

I think most DJ owners would think that it's not enough, but I also wouldn't want to pay much more than that if I'm the one giving up Arob.

This is one of those trades, I wouldn't want to pay much more than that for DJ but as an owner in another league I wouldn't accept either. The 1.2 would probs have to be involved. I would use your picks on RBs and roll with the rookie RBs

Lol, isn't this the truth. That's why vetos are dumb and proclaiming trades as grossly lopsided is dangerous.

This time next year Brandin Cooks and Donte Moncrief might be untouchable. That last part was a joke.

Wait, a year before David Johnson broke out and finished as the #1 scoring fantasy player in his first year as a starter his value was lower? You don't say ;)

And no one really knows if ARob's value is as low as it will ever be. There shouldn't be an assumption that he will just bounce back. There are some extraordinary similarities to Braylon Edwards there and Edwards' value got a LOT lower than being the ~#15 overall dynasty player.

With how terrible his WR situation, he may actually do that, and I think it's be a good buy.

You're right, I'm sure DJs value was really low after he finished as RB8 his rookie year....the point I'm making is that people are overreacting to one season that A Rob had as a 23 year old. This is dynasty. If you're going to wildly swing your valuations of a super young player after one mediocre year, then you're not playing the right way.

Edwards breakout year came as a 24/25 year old, A Robs was as a 22 year old. Big difference imo
