What are your top 5 running backs for 2017? The class is loaded IMO. Better than this year's class. I would say

1- Fournette. Baby Adrian Peterson
2- Chubb
3- Cook
4- Perine
5- Yearby. I know he hasn't showed it yet but I think he can produce

Agree with your top 5, however did include a favorite of mine in Royce Freeman.

1. Leonard "Fantastic" Fournette - Started off slow in '14, but came on toward the end of the season. Can't wait to see what he does in '15. He will hopefully be my Rd1 Devy Pick.
2. Chubb
3. Cook
4. Freeman
5a. Perine - Although I do expect Mixon to steal a lot of passes and carries from Perine.
5b. Yearby - Curious to see if he can fill Duke's cleats.

I agree that Freeman has to be included.

I'd go:

1. Chubb
2. Fournette
3. Freeman
4. Elijah Hood
5. Perine

Personally not a fan of Cook.

I'm not as studied on the 2017 RB's yet as I'd like, so I can only rank the guys I've seen enough of to feel comfortable comparing:

1. Chubb. Not close.
----tier break----
2. Fournette
3. Cook

I need to watch more Perrine and Freeman to know where they'd slot in, but right now they'd be my next two just on potential.

Chubb is the clear number 1 here and I agree with ConnSKINS26 there is a big tier break after that. I'd go:

1. Chubb

2. Fournette
3. Cook - if he does in fact get slammed with recent assault allegations he goes down on this list.
4. Freeman
5. Perrine

Fournette, Perine, Chubb, Cook, Freeman. Though Cook is moving fast the wrong way for me. Off field stuff like his gets too much attention nowadays not to kill his value/productivity/etc.

I'm surprised you have Perrine above Chubb.

And I have to ask, is there anything other than lingering recruitment hype keeping Fournette at the top? Don't see any reason to have him above Chubb personally, Chubb's tape is better, his production is better, and his measurables are on another level.

Personally, I have Fournette over Chubb. However, even Fournette has proclaimed Chubb the best SEC RB.

All that did for me was hold Fournette in even higher regard. Displaying his maturity and acknowledgement that he must continue working to be regarded the best.

Coming out of high school, Fournette was clearly the #1 RB recruit at 6'1 220+ lbs with sub 4.4 speed. Those measurables are not common. LSU brought Fournette along slowly in his freshman year and he ended the year showing what we can expect in his sophomore year.

This is a great discussion to have and it will be ongoing for the next two years to see who reigns supreme. In 2017' drafts, there will be 1a and 1b debates on who to choose as the best RB.

Just talking about 40 time is too simplistic. Chubb destroyed Fournette in every other way pretty much, and so far has been the better RB on the field.

Fournette had like a 29" vertical and unimpressive broad jumps, Chubb destroyed those. That's worrisome, since that could indicate a lack of explosiveness for Fournette.

I probably do t have Perine ahead of Chubb in all reality. Huge Oklahoma fan and it was more wishful thinking that he would be the next big thing as a Boomer Sooner. I never actually would draft with my heart. Still probably go Fournette over Chubb until the season plays out.

That's fair, I was just wondering what the thought process was, always helpful to understand other viewpoints even if I disagree.

I watch all their games too, so I was surprises how under the radar he was before and even after the Jayhawks game. It's like a lot of the media dismissed it since it was a week after Gordon's and against a slightly worse defense. Like it didn't count or had an asterisk. I remember early in the year when he was not starting, I kept saying to myself, man they should start that guy, he looks pretty explosive and hard to bring down. Will be interesting to see what Mixon does this year and if it's a crazy 1-2 combo or what.

Definitely agree with the Baby AP comparison to Fournette. This guy is going to be phenomenal. I haven't been this excited for a prospect in a long time.

Chubb/Fournette>Gurley/Gordon IMO
