Superflex Draft

Postby Witchit Straws » Tue Jun 02, 2015 4:56 am

I am in a new super flex league and our draft is coming up soon. For rankings, do I use Dynasty rankings and emphasize QB's early in the draft?
Generally speaking, don't you wan't to pick 2 QB's by the 3rd round, and perhaps bin the first 2?
Garrapolo, Trubisky,
Mixon, R Freeman, T Cohen, L Miller, Mack, C Thompson, Breida, Powell, Abdullah
Arob, Landry, Cupp, Chris Godwin, Lockett, Zay Jones, Taywan Taylor,
Kelce, Kroft, Jesse James

Do you know your pick location yet?

I tell this anecdote every time someone asks a super flex question...

In 2010 I was in a brand new superflex. I just couldn't believe all these great RBs and WRs falling to me. So I waited on QB. Then I waited some more. Then some more. Until the only QBs I had were Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst (when they were the SEA starter and backup). I missed the playoffs for 4 straight years. I tried to patch together QBs but I never could do it. Finally in 2014, during the pre season, I traded for Big Ben...then midway through the season I traded for Peyton from a team rebuilding...I went 12-1 I believe and lost in the finals.

In 2012 I got into another superflex league. This story is much quicker...I drafted Andrew Luck in the 1st round (even as a rookie) and got Drew Brees a couple of picks later in the 2nd round. I have made the playoffs every season and the finals twice, winning one of them. My team is stacked there now, its a shame that the league is folding (bad commish)

So long story short, take 2 top 10 QBs in the first 2 rounds if you can, then fill out the rest of your team as people start scrambling for QBs. I think a winning superflex strategy is in the start-up get QBs, then in rookie drafts take BPA. If that happens to be a QB then perfect, if not, don't reach. If I would have gone QB the couple of years I had high picks trying to rebuild I would be in an even bigger whole than I was.

If you have pick 11 or 12 and the first 10 picks are QB then just bite the bullet and go BPA outside of QB...but if you are sitting at the 12/13 swing and Matt Ryan and Cam Newton are there...TAKE THEM! lol

Obviously some of this advice hinges on if there is special scoring where QB scoring is diminished or RB/WR/TE scoring is emphasized.

If Andrew Luck or Aaron Rodgers fall to you then be a very very happy man. I could see RW being worth pick 5 as well. Come back when you are OTC and let us know who the top 4 are. If this is their first super flex too they may go WR, WR, WR, WR with your choice of Luck or Rodgers. If that happens, beg borrow and steal to trade up for pick 6 lol
